And he shouldn't. Ted Cruz on the other hand born in a foreign country to a foreign father is himself a non-natural born Citizen. He is not eligible for Article 2 Section 1 of the Constitution to be president. He is a fine person but he needs to stay where he is constitutionally eligible to be fit for, the senate. What we need for 2016 is a true natural born Citizen born to two U.S. citizen parents that ensures allegiance to the United States and that person is Governor Sarah Palin. Marco Rubio and Bobby 'Piyush' Jindal need not apply either for they are not natural born Citizens but rather statutory Citizens born before both of their parents naturalized.
LETTER FROM AMERICA: Cruz setting sights on presidential nomination | Americas | BDlive
BORN in Canada to an American mother and a Cuban father who fought both for and against Fidel Castro, freshman Texas Senator Ted Cruz wants to be the Republican Partys presidential nominee in 2016.
There is debate over whether his having been born abroad might render him ineligible for the top job. The constitution requires presidents to be "natural born citizens". Mr Cruz says it is enough that his mother is American and that location of birth does not matter. Asked whether he believes President Barack Obama is a "natural born citizen", Mr Cruz refuses to give a straight answer.
