Basically Trump's plan is to put a 45% tariff (tax) on Chinese imports if they don't open their markets.....while Cruz's plan is to eliminate the business tax on goods produced for export....

Under Trumps plan if the Chinese did not open their markets and instead applied tariffs of their own this would destroy jobs related to exports and the cost of imports would explode.....things would become 45% more costly....

Under Cruz's plan...
1. No more tax so American goods would become very competitive to sell in China
2. Without the tax more goods will be produced here....bringing more jobs back to America
3. The Chinese will not be pressured to start a trade war
4. Goods from China will not possibly increase 45% in price

  1. We have no export tax. It is actually forbidden in the Constitution
  2. See above
  3. See above
  4. See above
And Cruz's claim that we do not 'tax' imports is factually incorrect. The United States imposes taxes on some imports, fees on almost all imports, and duties on most imports from China- duties being the name for taxes on imports.

this election is crucial if we want to get our country back and jobs back and all this ugly you see under Obama we've had enough, because that will carry on with Hillary or Bernie. this is it. kick out the Democrat party in 2016 and no to Hillary,Bernie

sorry, corrected that, should have not called it an "export tax".....as Cruz said 'exports are free of tax'

"Today, the U.S. taxes American producers that export goods, but it imposes no burden on imports. My business tax is border-adjusted, so exports are free of tax and imports pay the same business-flat-tax rate as U.S.-produced goods. By shifting to a territorial tax system that doesn’t tax income earned overseas twice, my plan will reverse the incentive for U.S. companies to relocate overseas. Instead, businesses will be relocating to America."

jobs don't COME back from any where ... those jobs are history.

hate to break it to everyone ...

But, but, but, if China's markets are CLOSED, you can't sell products to them no matter what the tax!
Get it?

but such a plan would increase the number of jobs here in America because American goods would become more competitive....

they would if they had competition from American companies...

There is NO competition in a CLOSED market!
DUH!
China really doesn't have that much of a 'closed economy' anymore...it's bringing in all kinds of foreign capital investments...

America doesn't need to 'bring back' the cheap jobs that the Asians are doing.....it needs to make and sell American goods which would be competitive without the burdensome taxes....

Trump claims that China taxes us but they do not get taxed, unfair trade.

Cruz is just picking up anything Trump came up with in the first place... People can see that, and is why Palin is backing Trump.

But what taxes is Cruz talking about?

All business's are taxed- both producers of product that export- and companies that import product.

I am sure Cruz knows what he thinks he is saying, but it doesn't make any sense to me.

Trump's idea is better, mainly because he actually intends to do it. I don't have that same confidence in Cruz (or any of the other candidates).

tired pondering?

Most of the $5 billion increase in imports was fueled by a $3 billion surge in buying of cell phones. In September, Apple released the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, both of which are assembled in China.
Exports to China fell 3% on the month to $9.3 billion as China’s economy showed more signs of slowing.
At $35.6 billion, the trade gap with China represents more than 80% of the total U.S. trade deficit of $43.0 billion.

China holds over 7% of our debt. How much can we tax them ?

his tax plan is to tax business at a flat 16%...i guess at 0% if the goods are for export?....whereas it appears imports would pay 16% tax....

so RW's are against taxing a slow US economy, and for taxing a slow Chinese economy.

allrighteeeeeeeeeeee then

it appears that both Trump and Cruz are on the same page on that...

Trump owes the bank 50 Million$, so he will only charge them $400 a night to stay in his casino hotel ... not so sure I would buy that, are you?
