That is a misstatement. Here is the law:

It allows them to apply for asylum once they are here, but the law does not allow them to cross the border without permission.

Here is the law on that:

It is not law, but rather Biden's policy, to leave the border unprotected by a barrier, and to offer shelter and gifts to illegal border crossers instead of turning them away as past presidents - including Obama, Clinton, and Carter - have done.

The breakers of that law can more easily apply for asylum while incarcerated for six months, than while roaming the country and breaking more laws.

Dropping off someone from a southern climate into 10 degree temperatures without concern for their safety is criminal

This is almost humorous -- to blame the messenger who clearly attempts to enforce illegal immigration, and then test the boundaries of illegal immigrant supports and "sanctuary cities." If it's a sanctuary city, they should be prepared to provide safety for those they advocate to protect from the law.

Many are themselves beset by economic or political crisis, violence or climate induced crisis like drought that contribute to migration out. 2.4 million people is a lot to absorb Within Latin America and would lead to worsening problems overall (don’t take that to mean I think we should take on all).

But to round up human beings and just dump them somewhere in 10 degree temperatures is criminal

They are being dropped off in cities when they should be dropped off somewhere on the open plains.
