From some random dude on Facebookburning....Any of you who witnessed this feel old yet?

In November of 1989 people celebrated the fall of communism symbolized by the tearing down of a wall. A wall is something that separates us, divides us, and turns those on either side against each other. A wall is a symbol of fear, and a symbol of hatred. The world came together 29 years ago and celebrated as the German People tore down the wall that came between them, and had become a symbol for so much hatred and division.

And yet here we are, 29 years later, in discussions about Building a wall of our own in America. A wall to separate us, a wall to divide us. Regardless of your views on immigration, what this wall will become, is not a symbol of freedom, prosperity, and the American Dream. This wall will be a symbol of hatred, division, bigotry, and most of all, of government.

It was once said that those who would sacrifice their Liberty in the name of Security, deserve neither. And even moreso, those who would sacrifice their liberty for the illusion of security, deserve both even less.

To compare the Berlin wall with a Wall to protect our southern border is idiotic. ... :cuckoo:

East and West people of Germany were of the same heritage and culture, and only divided because of a communist ideology forced upon them by another country. ...

To ignore the history is idiotic....The wall could eventually be used to keep us in - one of those unforeseeable consequences that ALL gubmint programs give us.....Beside that, there are far more cost effective ways to enforce border policy.

My personal opinion:

The Wall is just a symbol that is not needed. If the American society would force it government to pass strict laws forcing employers to e-verify while putting strict fines and jail time on those hiring illegals then maybe the flow of illegals will slow to a trickle.

Also America should hold countries like El Salvador and Mexico accountable for their corrupt governments that make their citizens flee for our border but also the American citizen should realize why those countries are so corrupt is because of our proxy wars with Iran, Russia and China.

Many do not realize that with the blessing of Putin the Russian Families use countries like Mexico to make money off the Sex Slave trade, drugs and much more illegal activity that help gangs like MS-13 and Cartel thrive.

So as we discuss the wall it is just a wasted symbol in my eyes and what need to be done will never be done because of our corrupt governments around the world.

Again my opinion.
