The Bush Administration Was "ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN" That Saddam Hussein Had WMDs

True but he did sign the Iraq Liberation Act which was used by the Bush Jr. administration to get congress on board with the invasion...

Hate to burst your bubble, Skippy, but....Clinton's efforts were to......

You Teabaggers make this tooooooooooooooooo easy!!!

From the link you provided:

(5) Hostilities in Operation Desert Storm ended on February 28, 1991, and Iraq subsequently accepted the ceasefire conditions specified in United Nations Security Council Resolution 687 (April 3, 1991) requiring Iraq, among other things, to disclose fully and permit the dismantlement of its weapons of mass destruction programs and submit to long-term monitoring and verification of such dismantlement.

SEC. 3. SENSE OF THE CONGRESS REGARDING UNITED STATES POLICY TOWARD IRAQ.

It should be the policy of the United States to support efforts to remove the regime headed by Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq and to promote the emergence of a democratic government to replace that regime.

That's what I said.......$upport......not INVADE!!

I think they were moved to Syria. There is no question that Saddam used WND's to kill all those Kurds. That was enough reason to remove him right there.

And what was the Raygun Administrations response to Iraq using them against Iran and the Kurds? Did he sanction them and halt their most favored trade status? No of course not. In fact they fought a Congressional sanction against Iraq.

Hans Blix;
Iraq Inquiry Commission

"Former United Nations weapons inspector Hans Blix testified before the British Iraq Inquiry. He told the five-member panel that the invasion of Iraq was illegal and that the U.S. and Britain relied on poor intelligence sources leading up to the 2003 invasion. He said that inspectors failed to uncover any weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and that the U.S. was dismissive of opposing views."

Do you deny that Kurds were killed by the use of WND's in north Iraq on March 16, 1988?
There's evidence to indicate they were killed by Iranian gas and just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

There were reports to that effect but they were debunked during the Raygun years. The reason they want to blame the Iranians was because it was Rayguns policies that allowed Saddam to develop his WMD beyond mustard gas.

I'm not excusing the Clinton's over this. Hillary is a war hawk and they have blood on their hands as well. But it was the Bush Admin that really kicked in all the lies that were told to this nation.

I don't see how it could be debunked, when no bodies were examined to determine just whose gas it was that killed them. They were killed in an area where there was heavy fighting between Iraqis and Iranian's.

No. The thread is about Bush lying about WMD, and that premise has been proven in the last 5 pages to be a complete fabrication multiple times. Bush did not lie. Deal with it.

We can debate the bad presidency of Bush or the terrible idea of going to war in the first place forever BUT the premise in the OP is neither helpful or intelligent. We really need to get past the partisan bullshit of prosecuting the last administration for things they did not commit.

The VAST majority of the intel did indeed say that.. PERIOD.. that is not even debatable

You know about as much about war as Richard Simmons knows about being straight

Idiot
No it didn't! A lot of the people involved in formulating that intel have stated there was a lot of arguing back and forth as to the validity of what they were receiving, nuclear experts refuting the conclusions of the Administration, Joe Wilson saying the "yellowcake" rumor was bullshit, we knew they had no involvement with al Qaeda and Ramsey saying right after 9/11, all Bush wanted to talk about was attacking Iraq and finding any evidence to drag them into the 9/11 bullshit.

How much oil are we importing from them?

Gotta be a lot. Since the war was not over WMD's it was actually for Oil. You know, so Bush and Cheney could get more money.

perhaps you and the rest of the idiots should actually read the resolution for the military action

Neither of which were satisfied. Iraq was not a threat to the US nor were they involved with the 9-11 plot. President Bush and Congress are responsible for the strategically blunderous invasion and occupation.

Here's a Rumsfeld memo a full year before the invasion asking how to start this war.

...a memo written by Rumsfeld in November 2001 – a year and a quarter before the start of the Iraq war – asking how to start a war against Iraq, and suggesting as one potential “justification” for war:
Read'em and weep, creton's...

I think they were moved to Syria. There is no question that Saddam used WND's to kill all those Kurds.

You think?

Really?

What happened to all that certainty?

He had them. He used them.

Apparently, the democrat leadership believed so as well.

What Did The Democrats Say About

Here's what the Democrats said about Iraq's WMDs (including the source of each quote):

"Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction ... So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real..."
- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan. 23. 2003 | Source

"One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line."
- President Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998 | Source

"If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program."
- President Bill Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998 | Source

"We must stop Saddam from ever again jeopardizing the stability and security of his neighbors with weapons of mass destruction."

- Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Adviser, Feb, 18, 1998 | Source

"[W]e urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq's refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs."
Letter to President Clinton.
- (D) Senators Carl Levin, Tom Daschle, John Kerry, others, Oct. 9, 1998 | Source

"Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process."
- Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), Dec. 16, 1998 | Source

"Hussein has ... chosen to spend his money on building weapons of mass destruction and palaces for his cronies."
- Madeline Albright, Clinton Secretary of State, Nov. 10, 1999 | Source

"We begin with the common belief that Saddam Hussein is a tyrant and a threat to the peace and stability of the region. He has ignored the mandate of the United Nations and is building weapons of mass destruction and th! e means of delivering them."
- Sen. Carl Levin (D, MI), Sept. 19, 2002 | Source

"We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country."
- Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002 | Source

"Iraq's search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power."
- Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002 | Source

"We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction."
- Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, MA), Sept. 27, 2002 | Source

"The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October of 1998. We are confident that Saddam Hussein retains some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capabilities. Intelligence reports indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons..."
- Sen. Robert Byrd (D, WV), Oct. 3, 2002 | Source

"I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force -- if necessary -- to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security."
- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9, 2002 | Source

"There is unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons and will likely have nuclear weapons within the next five years ... We also should remember we have always underestimated the progress Saddam has made in development of weapons of mass destruction."
- Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D, WV), Oct 10, 2002 | Source

"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members ... It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons."
- Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct 10, 2002 | Source

"We are in possession of what I think to be compelling evidence that Saddam Hussein has, and has had for a number of years, a developing capacity for the production and storage of weapons of mass destruction."
- Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL), Dec. 8, 2002 | Source

perhaps you and the rest of the idiots should actually read the resolution for the military action
The resolution was in violation of Article 51 of the UN Charter.

A treaty Congress ratified, which gives it the same weight as the Constitution.

..and he did have them. Google is you're friend.

I knew we'd have one...

Donald Rumsfeld said:
For bureaucratic reasons, we settled on one issue, weapons of mass destruction (as justification for invading Iraq) because it was the one reason everyone could agree on.

Paul Wolfowitz said:
It was a surprise to me then Eit remains a surprise to me now Ethat we have not uncovered weapons, as you say, in some of the forward dispersal sites. Believe me, it's not for lack of trying. We've been to virtually every ammunition supply point between the Kuwaiti border and Baghdad, but they're simply not there.

Please provide that proof of the WMDs that were found.

Thanks.

Why would Hussein leave them to be found?

He had months to get rid of them.

The Kurds were gassed on Raygun watch. Not Bush41, Clinton, Bush 43, or Obama.

Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it.

Why do you people keep bringing all those statements up as if they prove Bush was telling the truth?

None of their statements gets Bush off the hook for the invasion.

He was the "Decider", remember?
