American Indian as a people were on the down slide both in population and culture. Before the Europeans ever came to the North American continent they had large cities that housed as much as a hundred thousand but by the time of Colombus and Spanish explorers those cities and empires all but vanished except for mounds and ruins. The population over all had decreased. The new population from Europe and other parts of the globe saved the native population from possible extinction.

The English and the French introduced scalping to Indians. The governors of the colonies instituted scalping as a way for one Indian tribe to help them eliminate another tribe, and to have colonists eliminate as many Indians as possible.

They are no native people in Florida the indigenous tribes were wiped out by the Spanish and survivors were sent to Cuba as slaves. The tribes who are here moved here later on. My ancestors were Creeks back in the 1600s, two brothers who seen all the new people with goods arriving on ships and all lumber and other materials leaving on ships and instead of going on the war path or moving deeper in the wilderness they opened a warehouse business. They never lived on a reservation or had to move west . The only tribal people who really suffered were those who could not or wouldn't accept the changing times.
