The fact is the Constitution prohibits counting non citizens for representation. It also prohibits counting felons who have lost their voting rights for representation. See Section 2 of the 14th Amendment.

The illegal alien issue shows everyone that Democratic Party is working very hard to make Anglo Voters the minority ASAP.

Also notice that the census was used to portion the "direct taxes" that were supposed to be portioned to the States.

CA actually paid their 10% (55/538) of the Federal Spending in 2016 -- spot checked. We should go back to that where the States are handed a bill for their ratable portion and let the States figure out how to pay it

An immigrant is not ‘illegal’ until such time as he has been found guilty in a court of law of entering the country absent authorization; and when that determination is made the immigrant is subject to detention and deportation and won’t be participating in the census accordingly.

All persons in the United States are entitled to a presumption of innocence and due process of the law, including those undocumented.

That an immigrant might be undocumented doesn’t mean he’s ‘illegal.’

Consequently, the ‘question’ is both ignorant and a non-issue – all persons living in the United States should participate in the census.

You have medical clinics asking if people legally own firearms. What's wrong with keeping tabs on criminals who illegally enter the United States in the census. The ironic thing is that you have to furnish documentation and a Social Security card to be a freaking census taker.

So basically what you're saying is nothing is illegal until ya get caught and the court decides it's illegal?

Needless to say, of course, most on the right oppose a comprehensive census, the consequence of their bigotry and unwarranted fear of immigrants.

Most conservatives also believe that an undercount would benefit them politically when House Congressional districts are reapportioned pursuant to the new state population numbers.

This explains why the ‘administration’ seeks in bad faith to include a ‘citizenship question’ in the survey, where such a question might intimidate noncitizens to not participate.

Fortunately, California has filed suit to exclude the unnecessary question, a suit both appropriate and warranted.
