By the way, the thing that probably precipitated the shooting was some asshole rioter firing his pistol in the air as Rittenhouse and Rosenbaum ran past him (Rosenbaum chasing Rittenhouse).

Rittenhouse found himself cornered by the building and some parked cars, turned to face Rosenbaum, who he probably thought was the one who fired the gun. At this point Rosenbaum attempted to grab the gun from Rittenhouse and Rittenhouse fired in self defense.
