This is a great opportunity for businesses in the food industry that supply lunches or wants to supply lunches to create appetizing food that are lower in fat and sugar that students like....

If I was one of the food suppliers for schools, it's the first thing I would work on....and then knock all the nasty tasting food providers out of business and grab it all!

Or we could end the school lunch program, given that the federal government has failed to spend our tax dollars on school lunches wisely, and let the kids eat meals prepared by their parents.

Parents that can afford to pack their lunches SHOULD DO SO, but it seems they have gotten lazy and it is easier for them to just give their kids the money to buy lunches. For those that can't afford to pack a healthy lunch for their kids, then the school lunches will have to do.

the federal government DOES NOT pay for this program in full do they? It was my understanding that they only contribute a little towards it and the school local and state funding provide the rest. If parents insist on having tastier and fat and sugar calorie high foods for their kids, they can drop the federal funding and pay for it all themselves.... they do have a choice in the matter.

The problem with federal programs is ALL STATES, ALL TAXPAYERS, ARE FORCED TO FUND THE WELFARE OF THE STATES THAT CHOOSE TO ADHERE TO THE NAZI LIKE FEDERAL GUIDELINES. Thus we are FORCED by the point of a gun to fund this program whether we like it or not, so long as one state in the nation agrees to the federal mandates.
