To pass the major legislation that Trump backs, corporate tax cuts, a trillion dollar infrastructure program, a 54 billion dollar increase in military spending, and of course the great wall and increases in homeland security require either massive cuts in government spending or a big deficit far greater than the projected 445 billion in Trump's first year in office. It's true that although he has not gotten major legislation through (REPUBLICAN!) congress, that doesn't mean he hasn't done real damage to middle America, not to mention how he's screwed over the military and veterans. And, wow, he's already managed to give millions to his 1% cronies and has funneled close to $6 MILLION into his own pocket.

Spending cuts will have to come out of healthcare spending and social programs that effect republicans just as much as democrats. A recent Wall Street Journal poll found that 57 percent of Americans favor government doing more, not less to solve the nation’s problems, an all-time high for that poll, up from 50 percent two years ago. A Pew Research Center poll found a similar result. So the question is will congress make the necessary cuts to satisfy fiscal conservatives and suffer the political consequences or just run up the deficit?
