This is what our lord feels about gays(males)

Remind us again of the one sin Jesus said could not be forgiven. I don't remember its being 'homosexual' (even if we accept that is a sin).

The sin that one cannot be forgiven of is the rejection of Jesus Christ as one's personal Savior.

The Old Testament has valuable lessons to be learned in its parables. Soddom and Gomorrah were not destroyed because they had gays there. Humanity has always had gays. Those cities were destroyed because the people who lived there accepted homosexuality and only one man objected to the rape of his guests.

But was a-ok with the men of the city raping his daughters. What a great guy!

Matthew 7:1 "Do not judge, or you too will be judged.

Christians have a habit of judging everyone they meet.

And you'll be judged with the same judgment you've given them.

BTW Christians have been commanded to judge. In fact, you can't live without making a judgment. The point is to judge correctly and not hypocritically. That's the beauty of looking at the verse IN context. You can find out what it actually says.

That's not correct. The Lord loves them so much that He gave His only Begotten Son that they might be saved if they repent. Just like everyone else.

there is no, ''IF they repent'' required.... unless it wasn't a 'gift' at all...?

Gift is worthless if it isnt accepted. Repentence is required.

Wrong. The one sin that can't be forgiven is blaspheming the Holy Spirit.

Address them as sodomites.

Genesis 13:13

Now the men of Sodom were wicked and were sinning greatly against the LORD.

Genesis 18:20-21
20. Then the LORD said, "The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so grievous
21. that I will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. If not, I will know."

Genesis 19:4-7
4. Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom--both young and old--surrounded the house.
5. They called to Lot, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them."
6. Lot went outside to meet them and shut the door behind him
7. and said, "No, my friends. Don't do this wicked thing.

Psalms 12:8 The wicked freely strut about when what is vile is honored among men.

Isaiah 3:9 The look on their faces testifies against them; they parade their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to them! They have brought disaster upon themselves.

2 Peter 2:13b Their idea of pleasure is to carouse in broad daylight. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their pleasures while they feast with you.

Ezekiel 16:49-50
49. "`Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy.
50. They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen.

2 Peter 2

1. But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them--bringing swift destruction on themselves.
2. Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute.
3. In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.
4. For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them into gloomy dungeons to be held for judgment;
5. if he did not spare the ancient world when he brought the flood on its ungodly people, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others;
6. if he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly;
7. and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the filthy lives of lawless men
8. (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)--
9. if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue godly men from trials and to hold the unrighteous for the day of judgment, while continuing their punishment.
10. This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt desire of the sinful nature and despise authority. Bold and arrogant, these men are not afraid to slander celestial beings;
11. yet even angels, although they are stronger and more powerful, do not bring slanderous accusations against such beings in the presence of the Lord.
12. But these men blaspheme in matters they do not understand. They are like brute beasts, creatures of instinct, born only to be caught and destroyed, and like beasts they too will perish.
13. They will be paid back with harm for the harm they have done. Their idea of pleasure is to carouse in broad daylight. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their pleasures while they feast with you.

But there IS hope!!!

1 Corinthians 6:9-11

9. Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived:
Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders
10. nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
11. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Here's a little something for you from a religious scholar site called Sacred Texts Archive, it tells you a little bit about the true problem with Sodom...................

The sin of the city of Sodom was the originally considered to be the violation of the rights of Lot's guests. Defining the 'sin of Sodom' to be male homosexuality was a later interpretation, which was made by medieval Jewish and Christian writers, as a reaction to Pagan acceptance of homosexuality. Near Eastern hospitality, to this day, implies a responsibility to protect guests under one's roof. The fact that Lot was ready to make a huge sacrifice by offering up his virgin daughters to the mob instead of his guests underlines this.

There is abundant Haggadah, ancient Jewish folklore, which tells of the cruelty of Sodom to strangers, and their mistreatment of the poor and homeless. Among other stories, travelers are given gold but not food; when they starve to death, everything is stolen including the gold and the clothes off their backs, and their bodies are left to rot. One of Lot's unfortunate daughters is burned to death for the crime of giving a starving man food. Another woman who assists a poor man is smeared with honey and left to be stung to death by bees. Some of these stories are suffused with dark comedic twists. A poor man is assaulted and robbed. Eliezar, a servant of Abraham, is hit on the head when he intervenes. A judge rules that he must pay his assailant for medical treatment! (Bleeding was considered a surgical procedure). Eliezar then hits the judge on the head, drawing blood, and tells the judge to pay his fine. See Ginzburg's Legends of the Jews and Polano's The Talmud: Selections, for many more stories along the same lines. After reading these, I guarantee you'll be rooting for the Lord to rain down the brimstone on the cities of the plain...

There are also numerous Biblical passages warning about mistreating strangers, (with the story of Lot being implied), for instance this one in the NT: "Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares." [Heb. 13:2]

Between the original concept of a violation of the law of hospitality and the medieval focus on a particular sexual act, there is an intermediate stage where Sodom was criticized for other reasons entirely. Where Sodom is mentioned in later books of the Tanach and in the New Testament, it is used as an example of a city which was corrupted by luxury, lacking in values such as charity and humility. Nowhere is this made clearer than in Ezekiel 16:48-50, where Ezekiel, speaking for 'the Lord God', enumerates the sins of Sodom: "Saith the Lord GOD...Behold, this was the iniquity of ... Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness ... neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. And they were haughty and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good".

Note that in this context 'abomination' means human sacrifice and idol worship, not shared tax breaks for long-term same-sex couples, or sexual practices you can see on cable after 10 o'clock. Furthermore, 'abomination' is at the end of the laundry list. The primary sin of Sodom, by this account, was that their society was materialistic, greedy and uncharitable. Social and economic justice is a thread that runs through the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament alike, and it is not difficult to extrapolate this to modern struggles for equality, such as those of LGBT people. When governmental and religious institutions and their leaders perpetuate oppression, it would not be farfetched to say that they are committing the actual sin of Sodom.

A cigar for 'Sailor'!

Sin is between the sinner and God. Someone (or two or...) doing something that does not impinge upon anyone else is hardly anyone else's business. Isn't that pretty much the attitude conveyed in the constitution as well?

But, what 'repent' means and what there is to 'repent' remains unspecified.

Confession, restoration as much as possible, and turn away from the sin.

To repent is to change. That's what The Atonement was for. To change our carnal sinful nature into a new divine nature. We are born again as spiritual creations.

The First principle is faith in Jesus Christ because we cannot change if we do not recognize it's possible and understand that we can. It's faith in Christ that moves us to eliminate the bad things in our lives to the degree we can. By exercising faith in Him we move from grace to grace, refining ourselves as long as it takes. This is the repentence process. One we are engaging in frequently if we are using the Atonement in our lives.

Faith is an action mere belief is not faith. Even the devils believe. Faith is belief that leads to repentence. And it must be in Christ because He is the means that we can overcome our weaknesses, our sins, and be healed. We are cleansed by His work, and it's His grace that empowers us and sanctifies us or makes us Holy.

When you have begun exercising faith in Jesus Christ and changing your life to live a more Christlike life. You will have a desire to enter into the covenant with the Father and Christ. You do this through the Waters of Baptism. We are baptized for the remission of our sins, our past deeds.

The second half of the covenant is recieving the Gift of the Holy Ghost. The Holy Spirit is given by the laying on of hands and will teach us all things we must do. He will entice us to continue exercising faith and which areas in our life we need to repent of. He will give us revelation and instruction from time to time in all things we need to do.

Repentence is a topic that could be studied for a life time, but until someone starts using it in their lives, it's impossible to truly have a testimony of it.

That's a nice little fantasy, but it's not true. Even if it would be nice if it was.

Do heterosexuals need to change their 'carnal nature' as much as homosexuals do? Is that why the Roman Church insists upon 'celibacy' (though I suppose we can set aside the suffering children)?

repentance isn't REQUIRED.... it's something that comes from being soooo grateful for the gift you were given freely.....

Christ did NOT say to the adulteress about to be stoned, Repent! THEN your sins will be forgiven....

HE forgave her FIRST, ''your sins are forgiven'' (BEFORE she even had time to repent), then he said, ''now go, and sin no more''

That gift of forgiveness, given freely, is so awesome, so wonderful, so undeserved, and IS what makes people repent and change on their own.... not through the fear of burning in hell, but through the underserved LOVE they have felt from a merciful God....

you are not saved through any ''works'' of your own...if that were the case, then there is no need for Jesus Christ and his sacrifice...you are NOT saved by your ''works'', you are saved through your Faith and the Grace of God first, and this is what makes your inner self, change and repent, in time, on your own....

You forgot accepting the mark of the beast, when that time comes.

So there are two.

Classic theological argument: are good sins required as a sign of acceptance, or are god works evidence of acceptance which flow naturally from the heart of one who is saved?

classic schism

Pleading for them to rape his daughters...

According to NT law, if they were virgins, first to rape them gets to marry them...

Great lessons... don't you wish our nation were based on ancient Jewish laws? :cuckoo:

Absolutely. Don't harm the men under my protection. Take my daughters instead. See, Lot KNEW that the three visitors were angels sent to destroy the city. If the men were attacked, of course they would prevail and then turn the city to dust. Of course the gays intent on rapiing those men were undeterred by offers of women, they did attack the men, and Lot could not save the city.

No one should sit in judgment on homosexuals and say they are sinners. That's not the job of people. That's the job of God who warns us not to judge others. The individual is to judge only HIMSELF and guide his own behavior into sin or not.

Matthew 7:1 "Do not judge, or you too will be judged.

God's LAW is the judge. But Jesus Christ can save --- whosoever will may come.

Do you ask forgiveness for wearing mixed fiber clothing and then refrain from doing it again? That too is God's LAW. How about shellfish and pork? God's LAW. Do you only eat beet killed in accordance with God's LAW?

It's all very nice to say you are forgiven, but you're supposed to stop doing what you are being forgiven for. It is not a get out of jail free card that allows you to continue to violate God's LAW with impunity. Either you follow it or you don't. If you don't, then you really have nothing to say about what others might do.
