I can't "relax" as long as my family and friends in the USA are living this hell. One of my friends works for a Los Angeles company, and splits her time between her home in Mississauga, and a rental she shares in Lauren Canyon with friends. She's currently telecommuting, but acknowledges that this isn't ideal. She normally spends 3 to 4 months of the year in the US. Needless to say, she's at home now.

I have a niece in Las Vegas. An uncle in upstate New York, and numerous "snowbird" family and friends. I'm feeling guilty about getting to spend time with some my grandchildren now that our social groups have expanded to 10 trustworthy souls, because my American friends with pre-existing conditions haven't spent time with theirs since March. I see the decline in their sense of safety and well being, and I know how much it meant to me to spend time with family.

Canada will never really be safe from this virus as long as the USA fails to control this mess.
