Time for Moderates to grow a set of balls

kicking the can down the road? huh? this makes no sense this is actually a way to fix the problem, as much as SS can be fixed. The real problem with SS retirement is people keep living longer and longer, in the past 30 years life expectancy has risen 1 1/2 years, making retirement difficult . But adding 1 year would let SS retirement run a surplus for the next 15 years. Unfortunetly how long people live is continuosly changing, so the laws that govern it must do the same.
So the real problem is that people are living long enough to enjoy the retirement that they already paid into? How dare they!

How about we raise the retirement age to 99 so that almost no one will get to see it and "Sosh Securitah" remains "solvent" forever?

See the Liberal/Government mindset everyone? The programs and the politicians who administer them aren't the problem. No, it's those sons of bitches who paid into it aren't dying off soon enough!

That's about it. Social Security was not designed for people to live twenty or more years after retirement. Nobody is recommending moving the bar for people getting ready to retire but to raise the age a year or two for people with twenty or more years to go

Thanks for completely twisting my words around to say i said something which I didn't.
Let me try and explain it a little more clearly. Lets say the law is designed for people to work for 40 years and then be able to retire for 20 years, which allows for a balanced SS retirement, now if you increase life expectancy by 2 years, then people are working for 40 and retiring for 22 years. Now your SS expenses have just increased by 10%, which would leave you with a large deficit, so to counteract this you basically have 3 options, a) raises the amount of taxes you are pulling in during working years, b)increase the retirement age or c) every year pay out less and less to those that are retiring.
And by the way, thanks for saying it was how the liberal mind works when I'm a centrist, agreeing with how the CONSERVATIVES are trying to do it.

Moderates are the real America....always have been

Baloney - eg, the founding fathers were radicals, what you would have called "extremists".

The US Constitution is one of the biggest compromises in US History

Our current form of Government could never agree on a Constitution

What the fuck is wrong with you?

You finally started saying rational shit and now you're back off the meds.

Yeah, God forbid a promise of individual liberty to the American people... Yeah that was a mistake...

Apparently you don't comprehend the point, to you Maoism or anarchy should be the rule of thumb.

You're a very selfish person...

Its the dishonest that fuck it all up...

You ever hear of fraud??

How about those who never worked a day in their lives but are now getting SS funds??

I'll bet 10-15% of those getting the funds never worked a day in their lives, and I bet 90% of those receiving cash will be compensated over what they paid before its all said and done.

Then you got the fraud...

Then you got guys like me who will be left high and dry 30 or 40 years from now because the 60's pot head hippies were greedy Marxists.

Tell me why ABOLISHING the fucking thing doesn't make more sense?!?!?!?!?!?

Galveston County Texas Opted Out Of The Social Security Ponzi Scheme are they are extremely happy about it.

The current debate about reforming Social Security reminds me of the discussions that occurred in Galveston County, Texas, in 1980, when our county workers were offered a different, and better, retirement alternative to Social Security:

We sought a secure, risk-free alternative to the Social Security system, and it has worked very well for nearly a quarter-century. Our retirees have prospered, and our working people have had the security of generous disability and accidental death benefits.

Most important, we didn't force our children and grandchildren to be unduly taxed and burdened for our retirement care while these fine young people are struggling to raise and provide for their own families.

What has been good for Galveston County may, indeed, be good for this country.

Judge Ray Holbrook was Galveston County judge from 1967 to 1995, and oversaw the creation and administration of the Galveston County alternative plan. Alcestis"Cooky" Oberg is on USA TODAY's board of contributors.

Social Security has been delivering on it's promises for 75 years. It is a solid program and is relied on by hundreds of millions of Americans.

Moderates don't ahve balls. That's why they're moderates. Moderates never did anything worthwhile in this country.
And we sure don't need them now. There is no way to moderate the deficit. We either fix the problem or we don't.

Ha! Most Americans are moderates. The silent majority. And we're getting sick and tired of all your fighting.

Their benefits exceed what they paid, even adjusted by inflation.

How do you propose we continue on that course?

Its about time Americans face the music..

First let me say that I completely approve of the Galveston county alternative plan, investing in funds pays way more interest then in government bonds, but that is really the only difference. But in the end they are charged the same way, although they refer to it as "withholding" 6% from the workers and employers "contributing", but in essence its the same thing as saying tax, and in all other principles works the same way, except the county pays for disability which they get the money for that via more tax.

"Moderate" means giving up half of what you believe in. What half are you willing to give up?

if moderates dont come in here and kick out the Deans and Rabbi's of their parties then this Country will continue to spiral downward......to get something done you have to give and take....your not going to go anywhere with the Far Left and Right running the show......there is too much Contempt between them, and it is getting out of hand.....

Books??

I got so many books I could heat myself for a decade.

Its funny how I gotta go learn something..

I'm sick of reading your remedial books - books which you contradict yourselves in, books in which you make yourselves look ignorant..

Yeah, "Li Da and The Marxist Philosophy in China by, Nick Knight" was the latest POS half assed liberal trash I had the displeasure of reading.

Of course it is considered a "must read" among Marxist academics, yet it uses phrases to describe Soviet Marxim by "Soviet Marxism" and never goes in depth into the philosophy and makes no mention of the October Bolshevik Revolution and merely attempts to label Li's philosophy as "Soviet" related..

Its so fucking bland that I had a difficult time reading it.. That piece if shit Knight did his best to sugar coat genocide.

So go read that travesty of "education" because its right up your ally - fucking toilet paper for the truly educated.

name something that those guys you hang with, the Far Right, has done that is worthwhile......if you and Dean were in a room together to solve a problem you guys would kill each other......and the Problem would still be a Problem.....

I'm pretty moderate. I'm just waiting for August 4th and seeing whether I have to vote against Democrats or Republicans more next year.

Didn't your commander in chief admit that there is no social security trust fund? That they have commingled social security premiums with general revenue funds ? That fedgov may not be able to deliver your check come August?
