1824 was part of the strain between rural land expansion and a central bank/govt that served corporate expansion that culminated in capital's victory. From there the dems electoral fortunes waned with relative public acquiesence, until capital failed, and the dems gave us the welfare state with general public acquiesence, until we over educated boomers decided dying to fight communism was fine for others, but not really something we cared to do ourselves.

Probably Hill will run in 16, and while the tea party boomers will march to their odd drummer, most everybody else can live with her. And, even if not, by 2022 the boomers will lose much of their electoral power.

The younger folks just don't buy into the social issues. As for the argument that the "illegals" will all vote for socialism .... I just don't buy it. By the third generation they'll hate taxes like we all do.
