The problem democrats have is the base being split between Biden and Warren which will lead to resentment for a large section regardless of who wins the nomination.
If it's Biden the Warren supporters will feel shafted and blame the DNC-media for being in the tank for Biden and downplaying his faults as just "Biden being Biden".
And if the pick is Warren the Biden supporters will see her as un-electable and incapable of even winning the popular vote. They too will blame the DNC-media for not challenging Warren on the specifics of her "I have a plan for that".
