Trade Wars - just getting started

Consider the cuts as subsidies

Across the board tax cuts aren't subsidies.

Slashing the corporate rate could be seen as the government subsidizing industry. It has in the past.

The US has filed complaints when other countries did similar things.

"Germany and other European nations see the tax bill as an attempt to penalize imports and discourage trade from other countries. In a lot of ways, they are right. "

Slashing the corporate rate could be seen as the government subsidizing industry. It has in the past.

Nope. Not if it's all companies, instead of just favored exporters.

The US has filed complaints when other countries did similar things.

Sure, when the EU gives Airbus a special, lower tax.

"Germany and other European nations see the tax bill as an attempt to penalize imports and discourage trade from other countries. In a lot of ways, they are right. "

Yup, when you make your domestic companies more competitive, you might buy fewer imports.

To think that no country will do anything is so naive. So naive for your orange dumbass buddy & so naive for you.

They're free to institute their own tax cuts.

Then Trumps cut is worthless & it just cost us hundreds of billions in lost revenue.

Not worthless to me and my family.

Just how great will more pollution, higher effects of global warming, more national debt, less education, less access to health care be for your family.

All on trade for that extra $80/week.

What a terrible parent you are. You put your family's future at risk for a few bucks.

Pathetic. Real pathetic.

My tax cut is gonna cause pollution and global warming? DERP!

You're a fucktard.

It starts with the rhetoric. Then it goes to the demands.

Then you pull out of trade agreements like TPP & soon NAFTA.

You then call our best trading partners, Canada & Mexico, names & insult their leaders.

Then you slap tariffs on products.

What will happen when other countries call the Trump tax cut on corporations a government subsidy & use it to slap tariffs on US goods.

These decisions Trump makes have consequences. Consequence he either ignores or is too stupid to know?

Slapping that tariff on solar panels might help the US panel manufacturers but it makes solar energy more expensive & the industry expects to lose tens of thousands of jobs. Of course, making solar more expensive helps the fossil fuel industry (Trump's buddies) while increasing our greenhouse gas emissions.

Who pays these tariffs, US consumers.
Run for mommy...find your binky...daddy's on a roll!

So how much does a typical solar panel cost? How many of the panels do you need for a home?

If you live up north, it doesn't really matter all that much since half of the year your roof is covered with snow. Bad investment.

So the snow on panels is not removable.

Sure they are. Are you going to climb on your roof at 9 degrees with the wind blowing to shovel your panels?

Fuck China and Mexico. Build in USA.

They mentioned the panel would be $25 more, if a house took ten panels it would be $250 more, doesn’t seem that expensive to me. So I am not seeing the doom and gloom that we are hearing about.

Doing a little research, the consensus seems to be that (depending on your utility costs) you would break even between 15 and 25 years. That's provided one or more panels doesn't break down and need replacement. I don't know, but I'm assuming panels are like anything else where there are cheaper ones and better quality ones.

In any case, panels would be a losing investment if not for the government subsides that go along with it, so in a sense, taxpayers are funding your solar panels as well.[/QUOT

We all now that the fossil fuel industry gets no subsidies.

Panels do have a pay back period. What is the pay back period for your coal fired electricity?

It's cheaper, you don't have to worry about repairs or replacement of anything, and it's plentiful. Plus it doesn't make your house look like something out of Star Trek.

Electricity is a manufactured product that you purchase. You're not expecting it to pay for itself.

Who pays these tariffs, US consumers.

Yes, just like who pays the minimum wage increases. You weren't so concerned about the American consumer then.

Don't confuse them ray..they may start thinking

Maybe, but if they ever start thinking, they'll start voting Republican.

They will if they ever get a job

Speaking of jobs. Do American workers stand to benefit from higher priced foreign products or not? The only reason we depend on foreign products is cheaper prices. So what happens if tariffs increase the cost of foreign goods? Well then, it makes US manufactured goods more competitive.
Thank you Ray from the Rust Belt. Spoken like a true American who remembers when we were great.

It only makes FOREIGN solar energy more expensive ya dipshit. Buy American and the tariffs have no effect on you.

Even a junior high school student is smart enough to figure this out ffs.

All the shit we buy off the shelves at big box retailers and dollars stores helps build Chinese Navy to challenge our dominance on high seas in Pacific. Can we remember Japan during 1920’s and 1930’s?

Ask those in the solar industries who have jobs installing solar panel systems & now have less work because the higher priced solar panels &make them less competitive. That industry employs more than coal.

This us an example of Trump's lack of knowledge, education, and out right stupidity.
Solar panel manufacturers got huge tax breaks under Obama beacause they were “green energy.” As soon as they perfected their product...moved to China...fucked U.S. taxpayers. Also, those windmills dotted across the Midwest...those are made in China. American workers never benefited.

Just import slave labor. Wait, you don't want to import slave labor, you want US citizens to be the slaves.

Correct. Giving people a job and allowing them to earn a paycheck is servitude. Geez.......
Fridge is dumber than a box of hammers.

By the way since solar panels run on Gallium Arsenide have you computed your probable legal liability in case of natural disaster?
