Twenty Shot In Chicago This Weekend

The funny thing is every time one of you loons post another story about gun violence you're actually only reinforcing the point of rational people who point out that our gun laws are not strong enough.

Keep up the good work.

It's illegal to own a handgun in the city of Chicago. That's about as restrictive a gun control law as we have in the U.S. right now.

The pseudo-rational people of whom you speak have difficulty with the FACT that criminals do not abide by the laws they write. Where the gun laws are tougher, the crime rate is the higher.

Well, let's see about that. Chicago, with its toughest-in-the-nation gun control laws, saw 20 shot over the weekend. Chicago's population is about 2.7 million people.

The state of Nevada, with its lax gun laws, also has about 2.7 million people. Number of people shot over the weekend? Zero.

Similarly, the sate of Utah, with its REALLY lax gun laws, also has about 2.7 million people...none of which were shot over the weekend.

Any chance Chicago's problem is the people doing the shooting and not the firearms they're using??? You were saying something about "rational" people after all...

LOL, That's the point. That's like saying someone is the tallest midget.

Our gun laws in this nation are too loose across the board. It doesn't matter which area is the strictest when none of them are strict enough.

WTF??? I thought guns were illegal in Chicago....

WTF, I thought owning guns was a deterrence to violence?!
It is! Chcago is going backward!

Take a look at Kennesaw:

Gun Ownership - It's The Law In Kennesaw

KENNESAW, Ga - Several Kennesaw officials attribute a drop in crime in the city over the past two decades to a law that requires residents to have a gun in the house.

In 1982, the Kennesaw City Council unanimously passed a law requiring heads of households to own at least one firearm with ammunition.

The ordinance states the gun law is needed to "protect the safety, security and general welfare of the city and its inhabitants."

Then-councilman J.O. Stephenson said after the ordinance was passed, everyone "went crazy."

"People all over the country said there would be shootings in the street and violence in homes," he said. "Of course, that wasn't the case."

In fact, according to Stephenson, it caused the crime rate in the city to plunge.

Kennesaw Historical Society president Robert Jones said following the law's passage, the crime rate dropped 89 percent in the city, compared to the modest 10 percent drop statewide.

"It did drop after it was passed," he said. "After it initially dropped, it has stayed at the same low level for the past 16 years."

That's impossible.

Chicago has strict anti gun ownership rights laws.

Yes.. because gun free zones are not strong enough.. you need government confiscation

No.. it is defective PEOPLE.... not defective weapons or the law abiding people having the access to then

Yea, we need gun laws as tough as Mexico's. Why just look at the peaceful nirvana that sprang forth in that country following the virtual ban on civilian firearm ownership. There's your model for "strict enough"...:cuckoo:

If your argument that "the stricter the gun control, the less gun violence" was true, then Chicago would have less gun violence. It has more. You see the problem there, don't you?

False. Plenty of other countries with tougher gun laws and lower gun violence.

Thanks for trying though, it was a cute effort.

No. That would require a rational person.
