UN: US inequality reaching a dangerous level due to Trump's 'cruel' measures

All these shrill screechers so pathetically pleading in defense of the rich would be funny if not so pathetic. They are in such a state that they take this post, "It is constantly amazing that the 'rich' have not learned the lessons of history and continue to push things to a breaking point, one that will break bad for them even more than for the rest of us.", as an attack. Then they spin it into promoting all they detest, as if it promoted anything at all. A simple observation from history, taken in such a way, shows extreme insecurity, to say the least. Note that even the word rich is in apostrophes to set it apart, saying that the word itself has dubious connotations.
When such a minute percentage of the population concentrates such an overwhelming percentage of the wealth to the evident detriment of the overwhelming majority, a very dangerous social cocktail is made. It is a cocktail even more dangerous when shaken.

What is THIS nonsense all about? Who is pushing things to a breaking point? People making money off of businesses? People having the opportunity to be wealthy (aside from government officials)? It is almost as if you are claiming that business does nothing to help and everything to HARM an economy? I think the ones who want to punish success and reward failure are the REAL insecure ones here in this world. You want to bring everyone down to one level because you think everyone and everything should be "equal" with no standouts and no personal excellence. Bogus man.

Donald Trump is deliberately forcing millions of Americans into financial ruin, cruelly depriving them of food and other basic protections while lavishing vast riches on the super-wealthy, the United Nations monitor on poverty has warned.

Philip Alston, the UN special rapporteur who acts as a watchdog on extreme poverty around the world, has issued a withering critique of the state of America today. Trump is steering the country towards a “dramatic change of direction” that is rewarding the rich and punishing the poor by blocking access even to the most meager necessities.

“This is a systematic attack on America’s welfare program that is undermining the social safety net for those who can’t cope on their own. Once you start removing any sense of government commitment, you quickly move into cruelty,” Alston told the Guardian.

Millions of Americans already struggling to make ends meet faced “ruination”, he warned. “If food stamps and access to Medicaid are removed, and housing subsidies cut, then the effect on people living on the margins will be drastic.”

Anyone that isn't rich should think twice before they ever vote republican again! I am dead serious.
Jeez, you really succeeded in 'triggering' a lot of folks. Hope the "1%ers" appreciate how far these poor people are willing to go to defend them. What, one wonders, do they think they gain by such vociferous efforts?

The rich can take care of themselves, and they better had.

And so can you. You are quite capable of taking care of yourself too. No need to try get the government and taxpayers involved in caring for you.

I will say that corporate/government cronyism is definitely a bad thing. Businesses and investors making a lot of money is not a bad thing though. Creating a hostile business environment where businesses are actually AFRAID of taking any risks is just as bad if not worse than government/business cronyism. That kind of thing will HARM a lot more people because they will have no jobs to go to, and they in turn become a burden on society in general.

You know? It would be nice to see you actually address some of the good points I have made here in this thread. So far, crickets from you and a bit of pouting too. :D

This tirade against America is really very say. American's are hard workers and not lazy people looking for handouts. The root of criticism of some of the richest Americans is that some, even many, have received special treatment and advantages due to inherited class positions in society. Not to be confused with inherited financial wealth, inherited class positions have to do with education and connections to opportunity.

And MANY OTHERS have not and have earned their own way.
There is a big difference between earning your own way and becoming obscenely wealthy with the help of special favors and advantages.

Example?
You can work your but off paving driveways but it is the paver with the connections to politicians and officials and perhaps a good lobbyist who will get the huge government contract to pave the big parking lots around government buildings and eventually streets and roads.

Now you got me thinking, yeah you got me there.

How is being successful and making money and being rich here in America pushing things to the breaking point? That is what America is all about. We are the land of opportunity where such things are possible for anyone willing to put in a little effort and make some sacrifices. If you aren't willing to put in effort and make such sacrifices, then you can't blame those who actually HAVE done it. That won't really help you out.

So, we should give more power to this same government to "control" these businesses or how much money they make? Lol.

Absurd projections clearly noted.
Also clear is total ignorance of what I think or want. You are so anxious to spout off about how wonderful and magnanimous the rich are that you only see negativity in any criticism, even when in reality it is neutral critique.
Continue, though. Those on high may look down and see your efforts and approve. Who knows?

No, we should better control and prevent pay for play politics and corruption. Is it fair that hotels and golf courses have to compete with the President of the US for business?

The taxpayers are taking care of the rich at the expense of the poor. That is what the debate is about. Corporate welfare and special treatment for the rich.

I never said any of those things about the rich. I said it is not right to punish success and reward failure. That will never have the desired outcome. If you actually thought about anything for more than a minute (as your avatar would suggest), then you would know this already.

So then you are against subsidies for business growth? The reason why businesses get tax breaks is to encourage them to grow because they actually help our economy, which is the complete opposite of what some are trying to claim. Usually, when a business gets a tax break, they are going to do something productive with it. Do ALL of them? OF course not. Such is the way of the world.

His golf courses and hotels were famous LONG before he was a POTUS. Lol. As much as it might bother you, the Trump trademark means something when it comes to business.

Businesses get incentives because they contribute greatly to the economy and the economic well being of America overall and in the bigger picture. Taxing them more and making a business hostile environment only hurts all of us. It is certainly not going to make YOU any wealthier. The government is never going to be able to make you wealthy or comfortable in your own skin. In fact, you should always be very wary of the government because they have a LOT more influence than any business. That is the reason WHY businesses would be sending them lobbyists. So, you are angry at businesses for taking advantage of the "government." Lol. Just say that and think of how silly it is. The government WANTS the businesses to lobby them. Stop trying to portray government as your saving grace. That would make you stupid swine.

You want equality? Everyone pay 20% of their income no matter the source in a fair flat tax. That’s equality.
A rich guy whose income is from an inheritance and a poor guy whose income is from actual work do not contribute equally to the economy. The poor guy contributes more.

You are full of Shit....

The Rich guy pays a tax on his

property and everything he buys.

And he would still contribute nothing to the economy. No goods or services. The rich guy could literally be as worthless as a comatose or paralyzed John Paul Getty III and still "pay taxes." Do you really think something that's more or less dead can contribute goods or services?
