Unlike Nixon, Trump Will Not Go Quietly

In July of 1974, the House Judiciary Committee approved three articles of impeachment against Dick Nixon.

"Faced with near-certain approval of the articles by the entire House and subsequent conviction in the Senate, Nixon opted to resign."

Trump can not afford to follow Nixon's example.

Donald Trump Will Not Go Quietly Like Nixon

"Some of his children and his son-in-law may be indicted, the stock market may continue its tumble, the country may slide into a recession, and the Republican establishment may desert him, but he won’t follow Nixon’s lead and quit.

"Trump will remain until the bitter end and seek reelection, not because he is a man of courage and principle, but because he has no other safe personal option...."

"If Trump resigned before 2020, he would be subject to prosecution for any federal offenses he may have committed since 2015.

"The statute of limitations for most federal felonies is five years. Moreover, the pardon power of a newly sworn-in President Mike Pence would do nothing to limit his exposure to numerous state prosecutions..."

"In any event, Trump has little to gain by departing the Oval Office early and much to lose if he does.

"Guided by narcissism and self-interest, and backed by his dogged white nationalist base, he’ll stay put until he is either removed or defeated at the polls.

"Hopefully, he won’t drag the last vestiges of our diminished constitutional system with him when he goes."

Donald Trump doesn’t feel guilty at all.
It’s not one of the few emotions he has.
According to some estimates, 21% of CEOs qualify as psychopaths, Trump appears to be among them. His glib and superficial charm was amply displayed on reality television for 14 years.

Grandiose estimations of personal accomplishments are currently on display daily.

Pathological lying combined with cunning and manipulativeness and coupled with a total lack of remorse or empathy pretty much guarantee an inbred inability to feel anything remotely like guilt.

Karen Celestino-Horseman: Donald Trump—presidential psychopath? | 2018-04-27 | Indianapolis Business Journal | IBJ.com

Teddy Roosevelt, FDR, JFK, Reagan all were considered great leaders and all had psychopathic traits. There has been a lot written on the subject.
What good presidents and psychopaths have in common

It in part is what makes a good leader.
Thank you my leader for presiding over the worst markets in 10 years and starting off the new year with a significant drop Thank you for acting so presidential and bashing only 5 of your generals who think you're a blooming AH

Don’t blame me for the study. Your lefty warrior made the accusation about Trump being a psychopath. I just showed that the Presidents that have been considered to be the greatest were psychopathic. No point hating the messenger.

For Trump to be impeached and removed from office you would need two thirds of the Senate to vote to convict no Republicans are likely to do this and I doubt you could even get all the Democrats in the Senate to vote to convict. Joe Manchin from West Virginia didn't go along with the lefts assault on Brett Kavanaugh so I don't see him voting to convict Doug Jones of Alabama might vote to convict but given he voted against Kavanaughs confirmation if he did it all but assures he will lose his next reelection bid considering he barely won against a canadiate as bad as Roy moore. I almost hope the Democrats do prusue impeachment nothing would be funnier than to see what happened to the Republicans when they tried to impeach Bill Clinton in the 90s happen to the Democrats now I guess the old saying those who don't learn from history are destined to repeat it is true.
If the charges against Trump are that he paid off a porn star to keep her quiet ......that is the equivalent of impeaching over a blow job

It will go nowhere

However, if he made deals with Russia to lift sanctions in return for personal gain or help in getting elected......even Republicans will have no choice but to impeach

I totally agree.

I think he will have no choice but to leave quietly in 2024. Presidential terms are limited.
Hopefully on a stretcher
got to love people who are always hoping for the worst against their fellow man yet tries to hide it by claiming their party is all about love and inclusivity.

You just won 2 trumpy bears for that BS post While I'm not on the highest limb of the tree I'm higher than most of your trump asskissers here and btw I'm a wonderful human being if I have to say so myself

Trump ain't going anywhere. It's a left tard wet dream
The bitching goes on and on no matter who is president, Dem or Repub. Nobody has any illusions about that. By removing Trumpf we'd merely be eliminating all this silliness that comes out of that fool's mouth. See that press conference he did yesterday? "I fired Mattis" ..... the man is an idiot to say such absurd things.
That being said, the dick should be left alone to serve out the rest of his comedy show known as a "4-year term", just so we won't have endure another several years of right wingers whining about him being removed even though he deserves it. Besides, the prospect of the Bible-thumping fanatic trying to shove God up everyone's asses isn't appealing at all.
Trump's just a corrupt egomaniac crook. Pence is nuts ... really fucking nuts. He'd be building storage facilities for unwanted/needed embryos left over from in vitro, and limiting abortion medications.

How stupid can one get.

Never ask that question. many will take it as a challenge

You do realize we have not a single shread of evidence presented to support that far left wet dream.
I wouldn’t be so sure if I were you

1. We have evidence of Trump opposing sanctions, modifying the GOP platform for terms favorable to Russia, defending Putin, engaging in business deals with Russia

2. We have evidence of Russia assisting Trump in the election. A proposed Trump Tower in Moscow, numerous business deals between Trump and Russia

3. We have cooperation of Flynn and Manafort who can link 1 and 2 together
You keep living that fantasy life. None of 1 is illegal as for 2 we have evidence of Russia trying to interfer in the election but none that they had any impact on the outcome or that Trump colluded with them the Trump tower deal never went foreward and at the time Trump was still a private citizen and free to prusue business deals if he wished with who he wished again no crime finally three Flynn's crime was making false statements to the FBI over contact he had with the Russian ambassador as part of the tranistation team hardly a major offense and Manaforts were white collar crimes done years before there was ever a Trump campiagn for President. Your response.

That is where the testimony of Flynn and Manafort is crucial. They were there. They can say Trump ordered this, Trump was aware of that.
Mueller is taking his time connecting the threads. If he does, Even Republicans can’t provide cover
Manafort was there for a month or so during the primaries before Trump was the nominee and gone by the time he was so for the theory that he knows this or that and will implicate Trump to be valid one would have to believe Trump was working with Russia before he was ever the nominee to steal the election that is TDS at its best.

The Presidents Pardon power is far reaching. Trump will resign in order to get the Pence Pardon. Its his only get out of jail free card. Resign, get the pardon, and return to his old life. Its his only option to stay out of jail. He knows he can't win re-election. He knows he will eventually go to jail without that pardon. Only 2 years and 17 days left until he is officially gone from the White House no matter what. But he'll resign before then in order to get the Pardon from Pence.

Trump is a walking talking living scumbag

YOU are Donald Trump?

Did obama do what trump did?? Give us the worst markets in 10 years??

Obama committed treason. He used the FBI to rig the 2016 election. He deserves to be shot by a military firing squad.
And trump colluded with our enemy putin Love to see the pos hang and I'd bring the rope

and when did he do.this?
google it his connections to russia and putin and him trying to eliminate sanctions against russia

It’s not one of the few emotions he has.

Maybe because he hasn’t done anything wrong

Maybe in some alternate reality where Trump did not pressure FBI Director (and later fired him) to squash an investigation into Flynn, who Trump KNEW was guilty of lying to FBI.

But in this reality he did, and is a crook through and through.

he is is the executive. The FBI director is his employee. By virtue of his office he has wide discretion on who to charge. Not to mention Comey testified under oath that he didn't pressure him.
