USA Today: No Blacks or Females in Dunkirk Movie

RWNJs will tell you they "support" our troops and our veterans and our POWs, and they do -

Right up until it's time to support out troops, our vets, our POWs.

Then they slip up and accidentally tell the truth.

Fucking traitors care a hell of a lot more about trump's Russian owner than they ever care about their first encounter country and the people fight for us.

RWNJs - this is for you -[emoji90][emoji90][emoji90][emoji90][emoji90][emoji90][emoji90]

Suggest you learn about British history before you treat them the same way you treat US'.

I don't know that much about the history of Dunkirk

The British Army defending France and Belgium from German invasion retreated when defeat was inevitable. They withdrew to the French coast at Dunkerque (English spelling Dunkirk) East of Calais. Under attack from German infantry, armour, and air forces, the British has insufficient amphibious equipment to withdraw back to England across The Channel and were pinned down on the beaches. The British Expeditionary Force would have been annihilated if not for the efforts of English boatmen (civilian volunteers) who made many trips across The Channel to rescue British soldiers.

While many non-whites, mostly Indians, Nepalese, and Africans served in the British Army, none did so in the English Home Islands. So, there were no non-whites serving in the BEF at the battle of Dunkirk. To my knowledge, there were no women serving in the BEF in any capacity nor were there any women among the civilian boatmen who aided in the evacuation of the BEF so putting in the movie would be a historical anachronism.

Then there's this...

All white crosses

White crosses were very popular back in the 60's & 70's. A lot of users called them beans. Baseball players included.

It was a retreat......the socialists drove them out of France....I know a lot of movies have covered the other battles of WW2...but how is a moment where Britain and the French got their asses handed to them a good movie experience?

It's not so much the defeat that makes the story. The British and French were hopelessly outgunned by the Germans.

The story of Dunkirk is one of the bravery of hundreds of sailors, many civilian volunteers and weekend boaters who braves the shells and bombs of the Germans to rescue thousands of British soldiers pinned down on the beaches of Dunkirk.

Stories of bravery in defeat can be just as inspirational as those of victory. Pearl Harbor, Gallipoli, Bataan, Warsaw Ghetto, Market Garden are all examples

Update: I'm watching the movie now and there are black soldiers fighting with French units (Algerian soldiers) and British women Red Cross nurses serving aboard British destroyers and hospital ships.

So, the claim there are no blacks or women in the movie is wrong.

They will have a whole platoon of cross dressing trans gender black she males winning the war.

Update again ... I wrote a very comprehensive review of this movie and, for some stupid reason, my post just disappeared. So, bottom line, I DO NOT recommend this movie. It is terrible.

For the record, there are very few movies I don't enjoy at least to some degree.

What didn't you like? Movies that rely too heavily on computer imagery tend to be a turn-off for me. I get the impression from the trailers that this one might do that.

I don't know that much about the history of Dunkirk and have yet to see the movie. Not sure where the black criticism comes in, but even if it was mostly a battle involving white men, they could have thrown in some worried mothers, nurses, etc. I guess. I normally get excited for new war movies, but the trailers I have seen for this one just are not connecting with me.
i'm all for equal opportunity.

i think it sucks however when you're forced to include people / races / genders in a movie just to keep from upsetting people.

Dunkirk was basically a giant rescue effort a large British force was in France to help fight Germany if they attacked France but neither England or France had yet adapted to the blitzkerig tactics of Germany and were pushed back to the beach at Dunkirk. These men would have been captured or wiped on the beach in order to rescue them England sent what they could spare of their navy and a large number of civilian boats across the channel to rescue them. I don't know what the racial makeup of the British military was in the 1940s and while I'm sure there were wives and mothers worried about husbands and sons at Dunkirk that's really not the main focus of the story.

There are times where the race of an actor is significant to the story but many times when it's not.
If blacks would stop being black and if the institutions would stop training people to think in those terms then many more blacks would land roles where race isn't necessary.
