I don't know why they protested at the VA. It's funding is immune from sequester cuts. And, this President has increased funding and staff at the VA, more than making up for cuts during the Bush administration.

I think maybe they chose that spot just because its safe. They probably didnt want to disrupt the active military base up the road. And the probably didnt want to burden the public areas or the police by picking a more mainstream public area. So, they chose the VA- a military facility, but, nothing thats gonna cause too much of a problem. Very respectful people.

Unfortunately, they aren't being represented in this red state by many respectful people, or by the right wingers in DC, who are going into their final phase of government hatred by completing their anti-government radical shift to include ALL government employees, with the military being the cherry on top of their extremism.

Yeah, yeah, and at one time, the right wing didnt lump in cops and firemen (you know, people who protect us) into the govt entitlement junky pool. Not until around 2010. Now? They are lumped right in there with Sha-Nay-Nay and Bubba, the welfare kings and queens.

Its only a matter of time before the rest of the people who "protect us", the military, are lumped right in there with all the other government employees.

One of the guys who was interviewed by the Charleston media was a retired 24 year vet of the Air Force, who held positions at the local Charleston AFB.

Why do you assume they aren't actually vets? Because there are black folks in the crowd? Because military folks aren't allowed to protest? Because military folks JUST CANT support more taxes? Because vets just HAVE to be anti-Obama?

The reporter in the video in the OP link clearly said that not everyone at the protest was a vet.

If you listen to what the actual vet in the video says, he has not seen ANY effect from the sequestration. None. He is talking about what he thinks MIGHT happen.

I'm a retired vet, and I am willing to make sacrifices to get our financial house in order. We have a $16 trillion shit sandwich and everyone has to take a bite.

Key word: Everyone.

These attempts to avoid pain are becoming pathological. Pain is unavoidable, folks. You can't party like its 1999 forever and not pay a price for that.

The longer we avoid the pain, the worse it will be.
