There is a huge problem with Americans understanding of the word 'Nazi'. Americans seem to believe that the only ethnic group persecuted by the Nazis of WWII were Jews - therefore anyone who does not persecute Jews is not a Nazi. This is a very false belief.

There were millions of non-Jewish people murdered by the Nazis. There were many ethnic groups other than the Jews that Hitler wanted to exterminate.

The largest single ethnic group murdered by Nazis were Russians (If you count invading their country, forcing the war on them and the subsequent combat and combat related deaths as murder - not to mention the millions of Russian civilians that were out-right executed).

Russians view the Nazis (not surprisingly) from a Russian-centric point of view rather than a Jewish-centric point of view. So when Russians accuse Ukrainians of being Nazis, they are referring to the extremely anti-Russian sentiments of some Ukrainian nationalists - including that of senior Ukrainian military officers.

Do we have anyone here who is up on Ukraine and its overall politics? From what I've seen, Zelensky is taking a pretty independent stance, in between Russia and US and its allies.

While everyone else appears to be waiting for the first bombs to drop, Zelensky remains defiant and doesn't appear to think war is imminent. He also seems to think that his job is pretty secure. If he's sweating, he sure doesn't seem to be showing it.

Any guesses about his strategy?
