Was Bush the worst President ever?

No, obama is clearly the worst. Bush made mistakes but the severly partisan and the ignorant blame Bush for much of what was actually the fault of the Democrat House and Senate.

LOLOL. Fantasy. George Bush destroyed our public image in the rest of the world. President Obama has largely restored it.

LOL :badgrin::badgrin::badgrin::badgrin::badgrin:

Obama is a buffoon, the world is laughing at him and us over his incompetent foreign policy.

Where is the documentation to support that nonsensical view? I'll wait. And not from a right wing news source, either.

These are the events and issues that define the Bush legacy for better or worse

How Bush responded to these issues and events is already well documented. That can be rated right now. What remains to be seen is the lasting legacy of the George Bush presidency

Only in the annals of the liberal mind.
Take Katrina...there was an enormous failure both at the local and state level of government than to be so pin-headed as to assign blame only to the President.

Regardless of what Bush could and could not have done, Katrina was a monumental failure for Bush. In a time of tragedy, Americans look to their President for hope. Bush came through with flying colors on 9-11 and failed miserably with Katrina
For much of the Katrina disaster, Bush was a no-show. He appeared indifferent and his flyover on AF1 looked callous.
His "Brownie, you are doing a heckuva job" was a public relations disaster

Total bullshit. I live in NOLA and lived here during Katrina. The screw ups were state and local. The mayor and the governor (both democrats) hated each other and refused to cooperate. The idiot governor refused federal help until it was too late and the mayor was looking for ways to get rich ---and is now under indictment for fraud and misuse of public funds.

Do you really think Bush was indifferent to the suffering of the people on the Gulf Coast? Or is simply that your hatred of Bush makes you view him that way? Bush didn't REALLY do anything differently than Barack Obama has done for disasters since he became President. The royal fuck-up took place at the local level during Katrina...Governor Blanco and Mayor Nagin were clueless. Bush took heat because the Federal Government couldn't react fast enough to salvage that complete FUBAR.

can you say Benghazi? can you say Boston islamic bombers? can you say giving F-16s to the muslim brotherhood? This weak president is encourageing the terrorists because they know that he sympathizes with them and does not have the balls to stop them.

true, and how about the victims of Sandy in NJ and NY? what has obama done for them? How quickly have their lives been returned to normal?

Fact is people will forget Bush as Obama takes his place as a horrible President. The Obama-bots can try as they like but Obama lost 4 million voters last election, a first.

It was not Bush's finest hour

Katrina was bigger than New Orleans and Loisianna. That is why we needed federal involvement. Chernoff and Brownie came off as a couple of clowns and Bush appeared indifferent to the suffering.

From a federal viewpoint it was a disaster

Ah, but Obama appeared to care and his visits looked like they had meaning! That's pretty much all he's capable of doing but that's gonna work just fine for Poet! LOL

Image is everything.....especially when you are President

Bush got it on 9-11 and nailed it in his public apperances and post 9-11 speeches
With Katrina he bumbled. He reacted with too little too late. His chosen leaders were inept. His Brownie, you are doing a heckuva job was insulting to all Americans

It was a major Bush blinder

Katrina was as bad as it was because of the location it occurred in. The reason that Federal aid was needed so desperately is that the locals fucked it up so badly. You could literally teach emergency management classes on what NOT to do with Governor Blanco and Mayor Nagin's actions leading up to Katrina as your examples.

That's ridiculous. An offhand remark made to buck up the people working on a crisis is a major blunder? How exactly is THAT insulting to all Americans?

not really, the media helped to create that image---imagine that!

The buses not being ready was a city problem, the levees failing was a corps of engineers problem, looting was a state problem because the governor did not send the national guard in until it was too late.

Once FEMA got in place they did a fair job, not great or terrible.

Brown was the wrong guy for that job and I blame Bush for picking him, but the major responsibility lies with Blanco and Nagin.

Ahhh... APPEARANCE... so if a sad face was given and put up a front to make it look like he was actually doing something you wanted, then all would have been ok... kinda like how Obama made it look like it was his doing when the military got OBL...

Got it

What I find amusing about strings like this one is that rather than talk about the job that Barack Obama is doing...progressives want to rehash the George W. Bush Presidency. Gee, wonder why that is? (eye-roll)

Well, imo, it's about the new Library. As for Obama ... if you like universal, and largely federally controlled, HC ... he's your cup of tea. If not, he's not.

We avoided the EU's mult recessions, and the expansionist monetary policies of the Fed, and Krugman's argument for stimulus, as opposed to austerity, have been proven to be right. OMG! It's not the end of the world.

However, I still suspect that Obamacare will prove to be unpopular with his core of younger, less affluent, workers. But like the thread says, less than 5 years into a two termer .... little early to be calling it a game.

How dense are you? Bush asked Congress to do something about the coming economic collapse 5 times, FIVE. Bush could not do it, it had to be congress. It's not all political what happened, but it's WAY more Congress's fault than Bush's. Fact.

Republicans had a majority in both houses for 6 years. The dems for barely two and for all intents and purposes, never had a filibuster-proof supermajority, so why are you blaming the dems for that??? And what do you mean "Bush asked congress..." asked them for what, specifically?

They didn't need a filibuster-proof majority. the GOP wasn't going to fight them if they had done what Bush asked.

He asked them to reign in Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac, and they refused. Barney Frank said that everything was fine and refused.

Uh,no. Here are approval ratings of the US over time. Our image has stayed the same or declined.
