Were religions the first propagators of Fake News?

Religions weren't the first Fake News. Maybe heresies were though.
Where ever there have been men, there has been faith in God.

That this belief has persisted for over 6000 years ought to raise suspicion.

Persisted, yes. Without results and fools are still waiting.

To continue doing the same thing while expecting a different result is a sign of insanity.

The religious have a form of insanity.

The English language needs a new term for ‘religious insanity’. Something like 'tribal delusion' might work but doesn’t sound right.
Somewhere in Jung’s writing there are a few suggestions but I can’t remember them.

It was for good reason that Karl Marx said communism is naturalized humanism.

Yeah I'll buy that. Can't think of anything that would predate it.

I do not know of any earlier wholesale lying either.

So, we can see, by the myriad of posts you've made on the subject, that you dont believe.

This leads me to one question. Why are you here and why do you keep posting on the subject? Either you are actually interested and want to learn, or you are simply stirring the pot and post specifically so you can ridicule those who do believe.

Which is it?

That people who learn to ignore the truth, and accept what they're told without questioning, are the people who shout out "fake news" the most, it totally ironic.

Without results? I'd be interested in hearing about that, but then you're going to make up a standard that doesn't exist and when I show you how you are wrong, you'll move the goal posts.

I know what's made up, lots of it is made up.

That different religions have different views on things, shows that.

Not necessarily. That different religions have different views doesn't mean it's made up, it means that it is being interpreted differently.

This is a big problem among religions. So many different beliefs that come from the same book. It doesn't mean that the overall theme is wrong, just that people are reading different things into the scripture.

Here's what I think. I think frigidweirdo has latched onto an urban legend that he or she accepted as true without ever actually investigating it for him or herself.

No, it doesn't necessarily mean it's made up. But it is made up.

Monotheism vs. Polytheism.

Now, you're saying they're interpreting it different. I say someone made up Polytheism and Monotheism just because.

In Egypt Monotheism appeared for the first time. It wasn't Christianity. And the guy who introduced it was historically almost wiped out. Then they reverted back to Polytheism.

Where your argument totally fails is when religious people say that other religions are false.

6 Big Reasons Why Islam Is False

"
6 Big Reasons Why Islam Is False"

"1) The Quran affirms that the Bible is the word of God.
2) Scientific inaccuracies
3) Historical inaccuracies
4) The Quran borrowed from Christian forgeries
5) Muhammad allowed his scribes to make changes to the Quran
6. Islamic sources show that Muhammad thought he was demon possessed."

I could probably find people from all the western religions that say similar things about other religions.

That even people who worship the same God hate each other. Take Northern Ireland where Catholics and Protestants are at each others' throats.

Different interpretations? Or just made up?

Heaven.

Back in the days before space flight, airplanes etc, they used to say that heaven was up in the clouds.

Then they went into space and found no heaven there. So they changed their story.

The Earth was made in 6 or 7 days and is only 6,000 years old.

Well, we have evidence that this isn't true.

Adam and Eve

We have evidence this isn't true.

We can start with these three.

Are these lies, or are they the truth?

Yes, I'm asking YOU whether the Bible is therefore true or not. I mean, it should be a rhetorical question, shouldn't it, we know it's not actually true. But I need to hear it from you that it's not actually true before we can continue.
