What are the characteristics of an armed person???

The incident began when patrol officers on foot saw a man exhibiting characteristics of an armed person.

"He looked like he may have something on him," Guglielmi said. "They go to question him and at that point a confrontation ensues and he is shot."

The man, who was armed, was taken to an area hospital where he died, Guglielmi said.

do they mean armed after they put a gun on him, or armed while walking down the street? Do investigate everyone who is exhibiting characteristics of an armed person.

What are the characteristics of an armed person???

I'd say one that has a firearm in their immediate possession. Like me right now.

I have a gun that shoots big bullets in my pocket.

So if any criminal breaks into your pocket you got 'em, huh?

That's how people get shot. But they can feel superior as they lay leaking in the street.

And that is OK with you? I don't want to assume anything, but it almost sounds like you agree with how our country is turning into a police state.

Police did not shoot people at the rate they do these days when I was growing up, it's a bad thing.

What is a bad thing… that they don't shoot people as often as they used to? So you have no problem with a police state, where law abiding citizens are losing their constitutional rights and are automatically treated like criminals?
No one is losing constitutional rights (unless democrats take them away) and no one is automatically treated like a criminal, unless they are criminals. Most of the time, yes, they are criminals
This is as ignorant as it is ridiculous and wrong.

Citizens innocent of any criminal wrongdoing are often subject to lawless searches, arrests, and detention by the police – in many cases the consequence of racial or ethnic profiling, or because of where a citizen might live.

And it’s liberals who have fought against government in the courts to protect citizens rights and protected liberties from the states’ overreach and excess, where Republican lawmakers have enacted measures repugnant to the Fourth and Fifth Amendments.

Indeed, Americans are in more jeopardy now to lose their rights and protected liberties the result of an extremist rightwing Supreme Court, whose conservative majority hostile to Americans’ rights was appointed by Republican presidents.

most people do not want the police overstepping their powers
I saw a video of a jackass cop verbally abusing some people in a car
on and on/like a nazi...he should've been brought up on charges
but, most of these protests are for the wrong reasons

Hopefully, our beloved Pres. Trump will be able to seat at least 2 or even 3 more conservative Supreme Court judges. ...

Cop's who walk the beat for years usually developed a kind of 6th sense when it comes spotting potential criminal behavior and taking them off our streets. .....
Not to mention things like a gun sized bulge in their pocket and the pants belt line is sagging down toward it, or the gun is imprinted through the shirt, or there is the butt end of the gun sticking out from under his shirt, etc.

One thing becomes really obvious from the beginning.

A person who is law-abiding walks in a straight line. They walk from point A to point B with not diversions, they have a purpose to their movements.

A person who has ill intent walks in a circle, they loiter, they meander, they avoid eye contact with police or other authority figures. For some reason that defies explanation, bad guys always draw attention to themselves in this way.

Another, all but immutable, law of determining ill intent is the holster. Good guys go holstered, bad guys never do. Any person with a gun in their pocket or waistband is gonna get the "Hands!" command.

The Good Guy is planning on living his life, while armed, so he wants the gun secure and safe.

The Bad Guy, only takes his gun, when he plans to commit a crime. So instead of carrying it around for days, weeks, years, he only needs to keep in under control for a few hours.

Generally speaking of course.

It's a pretty good rule to follow... for identifying a potential threat.

Good question. Well, it's pretty much a human thing, and we humans like to act all innocent when buggering the shit out of others. You know when your kid takes a cookie from the cookie jar, hides it under her PJs and slinks around back to her bedroom. It's about body language and the situation. It's what they call a "hunch". And when we can't call into effect intuition on such a subjective matter, we are screwed. You guys want robot police? That's probably going to happen.

It's very simple.
If a police officer confronts you, obey his orders and keep your mouth shut and you won't get shot.

So they said. If he was doing nothing wrong they should not of approached him. Was he DUI walking, maybe a shoe's light was not working properly. (you know some shoes have lights on them now)

It matters not if he was or wasn't doing anything wrong.
If you have a beef with being stopped, that's what the court system is for.
If you want to adjudicate it on the street, you will lose.

No, they had no reason to stop him or approach him. last I checked it was legal to be armed in this country.

It doesn't matter, he's dead because he ran. If the cops stop you...DON'T RUN!!! Keep your hands where they can be seen at all times. Do what the cops tell you to do and you won't be shot. Seems pretty simple.

Well, it turns out that he had a Firearm Owners Identification Card. Weapon was properly holstered. Police are staying quiet about whether he had a concealed carry permit, and not answering that question. Apparently, he was selling single cigs. Which is why they approached him.
