What are your thoughts on the NRA?

[

Interesting how you selectively quote the second amendment

You claim guns are "necessary for a free state" but omit the reference to a well regulated militia being necessary for a free state
Then you claim that licenses are not constitutional but don't mention how militias can be well regulated without knowing who is armed and what weapons they have

Go read Justice Scalia's explanation of what "a well regulated militia" means in the Heller case. I will give you a hint; it means well provisioned as in having good working firearms and ammo.

That is not open for debate any more. That is settled law. The Second Amendment is an individual right the same as the right to keep and bear arms or the right of religion. That issue was put to bed. Membership to a formal militia is not a qualification for the individual right to keep and bear arms according to the Supreme Court. Didn't you get the memo? I know that pissed you Libtards off to no end but sorry about that.

What a minute. Cite the decision and don't leave out the vote. Heller was decided 5-4, and any honest reading of the Second Amendment ties it directly to a well regulated Militia; Scalia's comments notwithstanding. Scalia made law, in fact he rewrote the COTUS to suit the needs of his political buddies.

Thank the NRA that criminals will always have an unfettered access to the gun of their choice

You do realize....France has more gun control than we do....they don't have gun stores, you can't own any guns without an anal exam from the government and you can't own 30 round magazines, and you can't own hand guns or hand grenades or a rocket propelled grenade...right? France is more strict than we are on all of those things...right?

You will acknowledge that.....right.....and all the countries around France are just as strict in their control of their guns...right?

And still, 3 terrorists, one a convicted criminal, and 2 of them on government, terrorist watch lists got fully automatic rifles, hand guns, hand grenades, and a rocket propelled grenade...and 30 round magazines.....they crossed an international border into a country that also prohibits all of those things, Belgium....and for 5,000 dollars they got all of those things.......

And they have no NRA in France...they don't even have gun stores in France......

And one week later 10 masked men, with fully automatic rifles shot up a neighborhood where the Prime minister was going to give a speech about how the crime rate in France was down.....you acknowledge that don't you.......right?

So criminals in the U.S. as well as France, Britain, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Belgium, and Australia are going to get whatever guns they want or need.....right? Fully automatic rifles....not civilian AR-15s that you keep harping on....right?

So your position is stupid......

France has a murder rate of 1.0
The US, thanks to the NRA has a murder rate of 4.7 almost five times as high

So your position is stupid

No....the criminals in Europe have as much access to guns as our criminals do, for some reason they chose not to use those guns. France and Europe are awash in illegal guns from the various conflicts in the Balkans and other places......and it is obviously very easy to get illegal, fully automatic rifles as well as hand guns in France, and Belgium and Denmark....they chose not to......why? Ask them......but make no mistake, they have as much access to guns as they want.....their laws do not stop their criminals from getting the guns they want or need.....dittos Britain, Australia and Canada.....
Neither criminals nor common citizens have the access to the guns available in the US
It results in not only five times the murder rate but an increased suicide rate

again....Japan and South Korea have absolute gun control and over 2x the rate of suicide...guns are not the issue...and Europe is filled with illegal guns.....and tell those 10 guys with the fully automatic weapons that they can't get guns.....

Japan and South Korea have a cultural tradition of suicide

Why don't you compare our numbers to Canada?

US has 300 million guns.....you tring to bulshit us that Europe has similar access to guns?

Rightly so, for a multitude of perfectly legitimate reasons.
Because it would reduce profit for gun manufacturers
Universal background checks would reduce profits for the gun manufacturers?
You obviously aren't thinking as this is an inane assertion.

Just because it's more complex than you are comfortable with doesn't mean it is inane.

1. Gun nuts see background checks as evidence of "THEY'RE COMING TO GET OUR GUNS"
2. Gun nuts frantically say "I HAVE TO BUY MORE GUNS NOW BECAUSE THEY ARE COMING TO GET OUR GUNS"
3. Gun manufacturers make a fortune.
4. Gun manufacturers give the NRA lots of money to keep telling the GUN NUTS that "THEY ARE COMING TO GET OUR GUNS"

For the NRA and gun manufacturers, they see it as "THE CIRCLE OF LIFE?

1) background checks do not stop violent crime or mass shootings and any "Universal Background Check" will require registration of guns to track who is selling them to who....which in the past has led to bans and confiscation.....yes...it has......

3) Gun manufacturers sell a product.....of course they make a lot of money......

the other 2......go back to the lib play book, those are too old......try something new.....

I know better than to try having a logical discussion with a crazy who is preparing for some imagined civil war.
Says the guy who admits he lies.

All of this is a lie.
Well, except the 5-4 part, which is meaningless.

Once again you ignore the obvious and move on to the extreme. You have a right to own "arms", but that right, like the rights in the First Amendment, come with responsibilities and limitations.
Under the 1st amendment you can express anything you want in any manner you want unless it harms someone or places them in a condition of clear, present and immediate danger.
How do you translate that to the rights protected by the 2nd amendment, and why?

You do realize....France has more gun control than we do....they don't have gun stores, you can't own any guns without an anal exam from the government and you can't own 30 round magazines, and you can't own hand guns or hand grenades or a rocket propelled grenade...right? Again, as usual you are wrong...you guys link guns to our suicide rate, implying if we didn't have guns the suicide rate would be lower by 23,000......and you are wrong.....Japan and South Korea have no guns....absolute gun control.....and they still kill themselves at 2x our rate.....they jump off of buildings or in front of trains and cars.......

And yes....Europe has just as much access to guns as we do....in fact...because they have wars on the continent they have access to fully automatic weapons, hand grenades and other ordinance that we would have a hard time getting....they don't use it because for some reason they choose not to....also, their other homicide rates are lower than ours as well....the ones that have nothing to do with guns...

Guns are available in Europe, they just don't use them......

This article shows how hard it is for a law abiding, normal, good person to get a gun in Denmark.......and how much easier it is for a criminal to get a gun....

Getting a gun legally in Europe may be hard but terrorists have little trouble - The Washington Post

Here in Denmark, handguns and semiautomatic rifles are all but banned. Hunting rifles are legally available only to those with squeaky-clean backgrounds who have passed a rigorous exam covering everything from gun safety to the mating habits of Denmark’s wildlife.

“There’s a book about 1,000 pages thick,” said Tonni Rigby, one of only two licensed firearms dealers in Copenhagen. “You have to know all of it.”
But if you want an illicit assault rifle, such as the one used by a 22-year-old to rake a Copenhagen cafe with 28 bullets on Saturday, all it takes are a few connections and some cash.

“It’s very easy to get such a weapon,” said Hans Jorgen Bonnichsen, a former operations director for the Danish security service PET. “It’s not only a problem for Denmark. It’s a problem for all of Europe.”

Getting a gun legally in Europe may be hard but terrorists have little trouble - The Washington Post

You can find Kalashnikovs for sale near the train station in Brussels,” acknowledged a Brussels-based European Union official who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak on the record. “They’re available even to very average criminals.”

In the case of the Paris attackers, they were able to obtain an entire arsenal: AK-47 assault rifles, pistols, a Skorpion submachine gun and even a rocket-propelled-grenade launcher. All of it was purchased in Brussels for about $5,000, according to Belgian media reports.

And of course....they have criminal gangs too.....

The availability of such weapons in the heart of Western Europe isn’t new. The flood of high-powered weaponry began with the dissolution of the Soviet Union and continued through the 1990s as war raged across the Balkans. Many of the weapons from those periods are still circulating. They have lately been supplemented by an influx from the turmoil in North Africa, with weapons smuggled on ships across the Mediterranean.

The guns have been used primarily by criminal gangs that turn them on one another during periodic turf wars.

You're throwing that word around a lot, and I have just ignored it as the ranting of another crazy gun nut, but what exactly do you think I lied about, and when do you think I might have admitted to that? Just because the voices in your head told you that happened doesn't mean any of it actually did.

You are still talking perceptively smaller quantities of guns in circulation in Europe and a murder rate about one quarter of ours

That is the price you pay for a second amendment

That's because you do it a lot. You admitted it. In this tread.

Because you lie to yourself as well.
but what exactly do you think I lied about,
Give you a hint -- its followed by me mentioning that you're lying. Lots of examples, in this thread.
and when do you think I might have admitted to that?
Post 318.
I ask why you lie to us, you give your reason.
Thus, your admission.

I am not a member but it appears that the liberals hate them so thus I love them.

They are ruthless businessmen w/radical ideas that do any and everything to make a buck out of selling guns.

I don't believe that the NRA sells guns, could be wrong but would need to see proof.

I got nothing against them I would also say a political message board is probably not the best place to get useful and fair information about the NRA.

Do you really think the OP is asking serious questions?

They were a good organization for years. I'm not a gun owner, but have brothers, a parent, uncle and cousins who hunt - and are responsible gun owners. The NRA got hijacked by twin, self-reinforcing demons:
1) Irrational fear over losing territory nobody was/is trying to take
2) An inability to accept reasonable limits to ownership.

But it gets worse. The movement is controlled by special interests looking to sell as many guns as possible.

To achieve their goal and honor their woeful pathos, the movement fuels the paranoia of under-educated but well-meaning rightwingers.

If you are not a member, like me, how do you know these things?

My brother once shot himself in the leg with a .22. After that, he joined the NRA.He hasn't shot himself since, but he has shot a dog and a beaver, as well as a few squirrels and ground hogs. I guess that is better than shooting oneself.

I think I figured out where the short is in your pathetic little brain. I tried to decode your meaning for your repeated term "like like" and obviously assigned a meaning that was more sane, but not what you intended. I suggest you proof read your posts from now on instead of writing unintelligible drivel and hoping someone can figure out what you are trying to say.
