They didn't have to own it to control it. Although, as per their Nazi platform, that was a goal. It couldn't be achieved because government spending was routed in guiding the economy into the military buildup that Hitler wanted.

The premise of this cartoon is incorrect.

The premise is not incorrect. Nobody said the NFL kneelers are protesting their working conditions. The cartoon is in reference to the argument that the football field is not an appropriate place for them to protest.
