I have insurance and good neighbors. We will take care of each other. A tree fell at the neighbors house three weeks ago. The police showed up and stood around for about twenty minutes until I got home. Went down stairs and got the chain saw. Had the thing cut up and thrown to the curb by the time the city showed up on a Friday night. Saved some serious overtime from being used. Thanks for wishing a disaster on me. If flooding was going to be the problem, I would probably use a backhoe to make some levees and help make sand bags. I tend to use the right tool for the job. Thing is, we work at solving our own problems. People in New Orleans are STILL waiting for help. The folks in Tennessee seem to have done quite a bit for themselves.

Nothing. I don't need anything, personally. But I'm glad he managed to get more benefits for returning Iraq veterans and their families; signed a bill enforcing equal pay for women. With the stimulus package, I'm glad to see more infrastructure spending for roads, bridges and power plants after years of neglect. I'm glad that he's done everything possible to assist homeowners in rescuing their homes from foreclosure; has made major changes to the credit card industry by forcing transparency. Unemployment compensation continues to be extended as long as the recession results in unusually high unemployment. The Pentagon can no longer get everything it wants, including no-bid contracts. Nuclear nonproliferation agreements are back on track. Offshore tax havens are no longer overlooked; a deal with Swiss banks was negotiated to permit access to records of tax evaders and criminals. He ended the previous policy of offering tax benefits to corporations that outsource American jobs (the new policy is to promote in-sourcing to bring jobs back). Numerous tax incentives and credits have been made available to small businesses.

And of course that pesky health care bill, which may or may not be torn down bit by bit, but at least the soaring cost of private health care will no longer be ignored because of all the attention paid to the problem over the last year.

Is that why some republicans went home and tried to take credit for the jobs and money from the stimulus bill that they voted against, even thought they knew it would pass, so they could attack it for politcal gain later even as they try to take credit for it?? furthermore, if you are talking about the helthcare bill based on what i have heard it is basically what the republicans proposed back in 93 when they were railing against hillarycare.

So their ideas and tactics are fine when they use them but in the hands of a democrat they are unconstitutional or worse. LOL

Face it republicans don't want anything to pass because the statis quo benefits them which is why they stall and try to stop everything even IF they once agreed with what is being discussed. For an example of this you need only look at the group of republicans who were co-sponsors of a bill but then voted against when it was apparent that it would have passed with their votes.
