Good question, right?

Here are two notorious Democrats asking the question and trying to explain it:

The difference is simple- The spelling.

“The main vice of Capitalism is the uneven distribution of prosperity. The main vice of Socialism is the even distribution of misery.” – Winston Churchill

Socialism is "a political and economic theory of social organization that advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole. Policy or practice based on the political and economic theory of socialism."

Look it up in the Meriam's Dictionary.

Compare the above with http://www.ontheissues.org/Democratic_Party.ht and Republican Party Platform GOP

"What's the difference between a Democrat and a socialists?"

This fails as both a loaded question fallacy and a hasty generalization fallacy, as the Democratic Party has nothing to do with 'socialists,' clearly exhibiting the OP's ignorance of 'socialism'; nor are only two individuals 'representative' of all democrats.

Prime example of post #5
Democrats are dumber; they don't know they're socialists.

Socialists don't sit on the board of WalMart.
You're right, those are family members, who inherited their wealth. No socialism there eh? They, ah, worked, ah, I mean, were born to it.

For those who are interested Adam Smith was opposed to the generational transfer of wealth for just this reason. Oddly enough he wanted you to earn your own damn way, maybe actually do something, besides go to board meetings...
.

It's a trick question as there really is no practical difference at all. Both believe in redistribution of wealth to achieve a political agenda.
Your side believes in wealth redistribution too. When they gave the rich and corporations tax breaks they basically shifted the tax burden more onto us and now Republicans are raising our taxes.

The rich use to have 75% of the pie and now they have 90% and you're crying for them? You're a God damn fool.

Tea Party=Republican=Conservative=Fascist

Same, same

See how that works Mr. Crazy Person

When you figure out what "E pluribus unum" and "Justice Blindfolded" mean, you will see that you are very, very wrong.
The two go hand to hand. Good luck!
P.S. You need to set aside greed, your own greed, to come to the right conclusion.

You are real stupid about these things aren't you? Tea Party is not Republican and Republican is not necessarily Conservative and Conservative is not totalitarian.

I'm not the greedy one you are. The GOP caters to that greed.

This country has always had a progressive tax system where the rich pay more so the poor can survive. I'm not the one who wants to hurt the poor because you don't realize what your way would produce, even though it produced the great depression and recession.

I'm middle class. We get it the worse. But I'd rather be middle class than poor. Our way produces a big happy middle class. Your way does not.

You guys cry for Ford Motor Company because they have to pay union wages but Ford Motor Company had record profits last year. So where's the problem? Ford is going to move one of the plan to Mexico. Why? Do they not like paying high middle class American wages? Of course they don't so in your new America workers will make the same as mexicans.

I'd be OK if cord went to Alabama but even they'll want an American wage.
