U.S. Gross Domestic Product (GDP) Over Time - Supporting Evidence

Funny -- looks like wealth increases over time.

Guess you're wrong.

Nope, not wrong at all. We keep printing money, thereby reducing it's value. The problem is that there are too many people in that top 1% hoarding their assets and what they do invest, they invest in places other than our own country.

They choose to invest in a Communist country like China, rather than our own population. To me, that makes them unpatriotic at the least, and traitors at the worst. But you don't think they need regulated.

The absolute worst thing about it, is that they have a large chunk of our population believing that if we reduce their tax burden EVEN MORE, If we bend over and let them pound us a few more times, that they'll come back and everything will be OK.

How many times do you have to get raped to realize that perhaps you need to fight back?

Yeah... it's just growing on trees, isn't it? You're an idiot... what, you want them to print more? I thought you Shiite Republicans were against that sort of thing?

"Although precise data is not available, the total household wealth in the world has been estimated at $125 trillion (USD 1.25 x1012) in year 2000[citation needed] 90% of this wealth is produced by people in North America, Europe, and high-income Asian countries, and 1% of adults are estimated to hold 40% of world wealth, a number which falls to 32% when adjusted for purchasing power parity.[4]"

Funnier how it winds up in fewer and fewer hands over time.

Nothing. Get off your ass and get to work. Successful people don't owe you shit.

Do you really think sticking your fingers in your ears and shouting "LA LA LA LA I CAN'T HEAR YOU!!" makes the graph that utterly disproves your silly assertion that "there's only so many dollars" not exist?

You want something? Work for it. Quit whining that the world owes you a living simply because you consume oxygen.

Yet Democrats and Republicans rely on the richest 1% of Americans to fund their campaigns.

What do you think should be done about this greedy 1%?
Special tax brackets for millionaires and billionaires.
Reinstate inheritance taxes at the levels they existed at in the 1950s.
Tax all unearned income at the same levels as wages and salaries.
Modest financial transaction tax.
And special tax breaks for makers of guillotines???????

I would also think seriously about how to tax war into extinction.

Tax our way to prosperity. What a novel idea. LMAO

What do the "successful people" who crashed the global economy in 2008 owe to those still struggling with the results of their crimes?

See if you can process this:

Not all of the richest 1% of humanity acquire their wealth through hard work.
Most bribe politicians to socialize cost and privatize profit in ways that benefit their incomes.
That's why FIRE sector incomes comprise a large part of US GDP today.

Government is redistributing GDP for the benefit of those who finance its elected representatives' political campaigns.

Maybe you should stop bowing to the monarchs.

Tax the rich or continue borrowing from the rich?

What's your choice?

Over 40% of US Treasuries are currently being held by the richest 1% of US citizens.
Fifty years ago government would not be borrowing from those who crashed the global economy.
Those responsible for creating and popping housing and credit bubbles would have been prosecuted and jailed and those who earned profit from their crimes would have been taxed to cover the losses.

Apparently you think it's possible to shrink your way out of a recession.

It's not.

"As this chart shows, the US is cranking out multimillionaires at a record pace with super-rich (more than $10M) households doubling in the past decade.

"What’s scary is that doubling the amount of people who have more than $10M per household (from 300K to 600K) means there’s $3,000,000,000,000 less available for the other 98% of the of the households as MONEY IS A COMMODITY and can only be possessed by one person OR another."

What do you do for a living Sir? Are you out there running your own business, or are you working for someone else(like most of us)?

No one "owes" me a living. My wife and I do just fine on our own. But you want to sit here and put your little Shiite blinders on and ignore everything that is going on around us.

The only thing YOU see is what you WANT to see. Which is our President willfully destroying America, or whatever nonsense Du Jour gets spoken to you by the AM radio brigade.

You can't see that the Corporatizing of America has failed. Why? Because Corporations have gotten so big that they are more powerful than our government. They are well on their way to OWNING the government. Corporations have no loyalty, no patriotism and no honor. They do one thing....make money. They will destroy anything that gets in their way.

Is that really the kind of America you think our "Founding Fathers" wanted? The Founding Fathers wanted to escape the Tyranny that living under the thumb of England was.

Let's look back at England of those days. They were a Monarchy. The King made the decisions and those decisions were carried out. Nobility was based both on Bloodline AND wealth. Nobility was bought all the time... and actually... a noble title in and of itself meant very little... wealth and land ownership was more important.

Do you REALLY think that the Founding Fathers of this country wanted the same thing to happen here?

Look around you... it's happening now. This is not a movement of "rugged individualism" or "American Exceptionalism". It's a power play.

 What a stupid statement. You're not poor because someone else got rich. You're poor because you're lazy and you made bad choices.

so many double standards, so litte time to 'splain it to these self made libertopians George....

of interest is how they'd come full circle , to the right waaaay around the ideology barn, in agreeance with much of what is argued, once it's laid out in baby steps

that said, i do offer this to the thread (in step with the OP)

And you speak the class-warrior one-liners very well.

All this horseshit about the 1% and evil corporatists is just an excuse. Your position in life is your own doing.
So...you in business for yourself or do you work for someone else? You never answered me.

I'm retired military, and I'm currently looking for work.

These debates are sort of funny.

It's like the HOUSE SERVANTS debating the FIELD SLAVES.

Basically they tend to boil down to:

I LUV de Massa!

vs.

KILL my landlord! KILL my landlord!

Gone ta run all night
Gone ta run all day

Somebody bet on da Bay

taken in a broad overview, the military is about as far away from capatilist doctrine as one can get, in fact, it may well be viewed as a socialist doctrine

that in itself explains enough about your stance to dismiss it as simply not having had to walk the capitalist walk....

The Idea of Class warfare proffered by the left is as old as time itself it didn't work then it sure as hell doesn't work today. The problem today is the left and its desire to take for itself the work of others simply because the left feels it is owed. How it came to this conclusion it the topic of many interesting discussions.

Well.. maybe if you're looking for work(meaning unemployed), you should not be so quick to judge others.

That being said... put your money where your mouth is... get off your ass and start a business of your own.

Your whole "lot in life" thing is a farce. I have been gainfully employed since I was 14(including 4 years in the US Army). I am now 46 and have NEVER collected unemployment, NEVER was on Welfare and have always paid my taxes without complaint.

So when you sit there and tell me about blaming others for my lot in life, you are only making yourself look like the idiot you are. My wife and I make right around $100k, we put one kid through college(Penn State) and our youngest is attending the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown in the fall. We get nothing in the way of grants, we make them take out one loan(Stafford) to force them to have skin in the game, and we take care of the rest.

In short, we take care of our own. Which is a concept that should be demanded of our Country and our Corporate world.

You see, it has little to do with "blaming others" and a lot to do with demanding responsibility and doing what is right.
