White House Authorizes Lethal Force At The Border

And it's an illegal order. The military cannot be used as domestic law enforcement. This will last until Trump is sued for a violation of Posse Comitatus.

It's not illegal to use the military to defend the border. That's sort of why the military exists. Next you're going to say that the U.S. Coast Guard shouldn't guard the coast. LOL. Good luck with the lawsuit.

Hard to use lethal force when you are unarmed.

American Troops at Border Won’t Have Guns, Mattis Says

So I guess liberals are just upset that unarmed U.S. troops are being used as extra eyes and ears in order to notify Border Patrol of incursions.

Let's face it. Liberals don't want a border or even a nation. The entire world should be able to come here and the people already here are obligated to pay for their housing, medical, food, education, etc.

Open borders groups like Puebla Sin Fronteras and Angels Without Borders are organizing a stampede of hundreds if not thousands of people. That would allow the kind of force going to be used.

Stop being hysterical. The troops are unarmed because there is apparently no reason to be armed.

President Trump's chief of staff John Kelly signed a memo late Tuesday allowing troops stationed at the border to act in a law enforcement capacity and use lethal force, if necessary, according to Tara Copp of Military Times.

he new “Cabinet order” was signed by White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, not President Donald Trump. It allows “Department of Defense military personnel” to “perform those military protective activities that the Secretary of Defense determines are reasonably necessary” to protect border agents, including “a show or use of force (including lethal force, where necessary), crowd control, temporary detention. and cursory search.”

Kelly said in the signed directive that the additional authorities were necessary because “credible evidence and intelligence” have indicated that the thousands of migrants who have now made their way to the U.S. checkpoint near Tijuana, Mexico, “may prompt incidents of violence and disorder” that could threaten border officials. -Military Times

They're authorized to use lethal force but they're unarmed?

Somebody got their wires crossed.

Some people are conflating last week's news with this order.

If they're authorized to use lethal force, obviously they will have the tools to use it.

White House Authorizes Lethal Force At The Border

And it's an illegal order. The military cannot be used as domestic law enforcement. This will last until Trump is sued for a violation of Posse Comitatus.

The Posse Comitatus Act is a United States federal law (18 U.S.C. § 1385, original at 20 Stat. 152) signed on June 18, 1878 by President Rutherford B. Hayes. The purpose of the act – in concert with the Insurrection Act of 1807 – is to limit the powers of the federal government in using federal military personnel to enforce domestic policies within the United States. It was passed as an amendment to an army appropriation billfollowing the end of Reconstruction and was subsequently updated in 1956 and 1981.

The act only specifically applies to the United States Army and, as amended in 1956, the United States Air Force. While the act does not explicitly mention the United States Navy and the United States Marine Corps, the Department of the Navy has prescribed regulations that are generally construed to give the act force with respect to those services as well. The act does not apply to the Army National Guard or the Air National Guardunder state authority from acting in a law enforcement capacity within its home state or in an adjacent state if invited by that state's governor. The United States Coast Guard, which operates under the Department of Homeland Security, is not covered by the Posse Comitatus Act either, primarily because although the Coast Guard is an armed service, it also has both a maritime law enforcement mission and a federal regulatory agency mission.
They are not being used as "DOMESTIC" law enforcement.

The people on the other side of the border are NOT U.S. Citizens.

I know you're just trolling. After all, you never miss a chance to bash Christians. Maybe one day you'll bash the Muslims for throwing gays off of rooftops, but I doubt it. Anyway, if the U.S. had open borders, the nation would be overrun with tens of millions or, perhaps, even HUNDREDS of millions of migrants. The nation would be bankrupted. It's one thing to be generous to others and another to destroy your own life to benefit theirs.

The troops will be armed with weaponry, just not firearms. They will not be used for law enforcement. If they see something going down they can detain and transport to law enforcement who will effect the arrest.
