Who's Going The Right Way....

6. Here's the guy driving against oncoming traffic, " hundreds of them!" ... Dan Demetriou, associate professor of philosophy.

Here is what the brave prof wrote:

"Illegal immigrants lower the confidence in the rule of law and add people and workers and students we don’t need. They on average have IQs lower than natives and low skills. They are harmful to an economy about to automate, especially when it is a welfare state. Look up the tragedy of the commons if you don’t understand the dangers of open access to a shared resource.

And refugees are way worse, as most adhere to a religious-political cult with repulsive values at war with the West from its inception. No country who has taken the current crop of refugees has made it work. No school with many refugees or illegals is a good school. None of their neighborhoods are safe. Not everyone has an extra $100k to avoid them.

What an insult to our kids, our educators, to suggest for a moment that a 20 yr old, raised in rubble and taught to hate you, gays, Christians, Jews, women’s rights, and western liberalism would be as good an American as your kid. Truly, let’s save a trillion and scrap the education system if we can’t produce better average children than the average refugee." Professor's anti-immigration comments on social media fuel a day of action on campus

Sounds like a perfect description of half the conservative posters here. (Omit the Christians if you like).

Oh, my....a 'so are you' post from a Liberal.

How......insightful.

7. An unusual event, our professor speaking out against the Liberal dogma....and the usual response:

"....students and faculty members at the University of Minnesota at Morris are planning a teach-in Monday, following a professor’s harsh criticism of immigrants and refugees on social media.

The professor says he wrote about an issue of concern on a private Facebook page and is being punished for being out of step with the politics of his colleagues.
Demetriou, who is now on sabbatical in Sweden, responded to the controversy in a second Facebook post, which says, in part, “Maybe you can imagine being me, hearing most of my colleagues advocate for policies that, as far as I can tell, are failing spectacularly overseas and in many communities at home.

No one much cares for how their expressions may discourage, alienate, frustrate or sadden someone who, like me, sincerely believes that his children -- our children -- will be put in grave risk by leftist immigration policies. Nor should they care, because my feelings don't determine facts. That someone is upset by a claim is wholly irrelevant to its truth.” Professor's anti-immigration comments on social media fuel a day of action on campus

a. "Demitriou is on sabbatical in Sweden, a country that he described as one taking in “the current crop of refugees” and not making it work. Sweden has taken in large numbers of refugees over the past two years and most are not assimilating well into Swedish culture.....he has no intention of repenting his views or plead guilty to political revisionism.

“Although I am not an expert on immigration or the current refugee crisis, my considered views are well within the mainstream of expert opinion and, I trust, will grow only more common in the coming decades,” Professor Calls Open Borders ‘Existential Threat’"

Let's not forget that in the last week, the duplicity of the Liberal establishment in Sweden was revealed to be hiding the truth, lying, about the deleterious effects of its immigration policies. Inveterate Liberals, they'd rather sacrifice their citizens than be called 'racists.'

A common trait of Liberals, worldwide.

[.

Certainly not the view of Leftists, communists, Liberals, Progressives, socialists, Fascists, Democrats, Nazis.....these:
the collective, command and control regulation of private industry, and overarching government that can order every aspect of the private citizen's life....right down to control of his thoughts and speech.
There is absolutely no reason why conservative Republicans can not be included in your list. They are just as guilty of the imagined faults as the others on your dopey list.

Look how quickly it took to OP to degenerate into responding with arrogance and insults. Typical.

Actually it sounds like the south side of Chicago, St Louis, and a few other major cities.

Aren't those areas progressive liberal stronghold?

You mean run by minorities?

You really mean with knowledge and acumen.

Left you speechless....a blessed sound.
No, I meant absence the ability to answer challenges and responses with intellectual answers, you rely on arrogance and insults. Most of the thread will be you evading answering responders with legitimate responses through the use of nonsense, veiled and open insults and the narcissistic arrogance you are so well known for. All evasive deflections in your tool box of bull shittery.

th

Where did I state that? If those communities are run by minorities, and I dispute the term minority being applied to a group that composes more than 20% of the overall population, then it would seem if the shoe fits they should either wear it or take measures of their own to correct the problems they have if said problems exist. Whether that be becoming productive members of society and building this community or burning said community down and living in the rubble is all up to them.

Good thing you showed up for a lesson!

"Progressive philosophy" is an alien view.
The issue itself represents the difference between a truly American outlook, and a foreign, Germanic attitude that began with Hegel and Marx.
...the German philosopher Hegel said, “The state says … you must obey …. The state has rights against the individual; its members have obligations, among them that of obeying without protest”
Ralf Dahrendorf, Society and Democracy in Germany

The 'Shameful Six'- Socialist, communist, Fascist, Liberal, Progressive, and Nazi,- all have the same demand of submission to government as their doctrines.

American tradition, memorialized in our founding documents:
individualism, free markets, and limited constitutional government.

Certainly not the view of Leftists, communists, Liberals, Progressives, socialists, Fascists, Democrats, Nazis.....these:
the collective, command and control regulation of private industry, and overarching government that can order every aspect of the private citizen's life....right down to control of his thoughts and speech.

Aren't you gonna thank me for teaching you how wrong you've been?????

What manners you Leftists don't have!

There is absolutely no reason why conservative Republicans can not be included in your list. They are just as guilty of the imagined faults as the others on your dopey list.

As the first Republican President, and enemy of slavery, said:
"Stand with anybody that stands RIGHT. Stand with him while he is right and PART with him when he goes wrong." Abraham Lincoln, Speech at Peoria, Illinois (October 16, 1854),

Since the 32nd President, the Republicans have been closer to rectitude than the Democrats/Liberals/communists.

True?

True?
You are attempting the change the narrative of your post, but interestingly, on the topic of political ideology controlling private life, you have chosen a Republican President that used a civil war to impose government control over private life. Individual rights as interpreted and sought by states on their behalf were put down violently by the President you now wish to promote as a "Republican icon".
Your claim of Republican rectitude is just more of that arrogance and spin you love to bury your silliness in.

It's not so much to knock your argument down as to remind you that the problem doesn't lie with liberals OR conservatives, but folks with no balance wheel.

What did you think of the professor's exposition.....that is what the thread is centered on.

8. "Undergraduate Mitchell Hancock, with Students for a Democratic Society, said his group is planning a rally, student-led teach-ins and a panel discussion about community responses to the threat of deportations and registries for immigrants. He supports a recent resolution by the student body that Morris become a sanctuary campus and called Demetriou’s comments “disgusting.”
[Why would an argument against law-breaking require a counter rally???]

Playing “devil's advocate is not only extremely counterproductive to protecting vulnerable communities, but also a huge abuse of privilege,” he said.
[Meaning communities of illegal invaders.]

Heather Peters, a professor of psychology ... told City Pages that she’d already worked Demetriou’s comments .... had students fact-check the professor’s arguments, she said, and they found peer-reviewed research challenging his blanket assertions about IQ and immigrants’ effect on society.
[In fact-checking, this professor will find data on illegals as rare as hen's teeth.]

Indeed, IQ in relation to nationality is a vexed corner of study, both because intelligence is such a complex topic and because neither Americans nor immigrants are monolithic groups.
[Thank you, Captain Obvious! Clearly a trained investigator!!]

“This wasn’t about [Demetriou]. It was about the thoughts that are out there,” she told the local newspaper. “Hopefully we can pull together as a community and refute these outright lies.”
[Actually, the reaction is about restricting thoughts that don't correspond to LiberalThink.]
Ibid.

Not bad.....so far no call for Demetriou's head or his job! Is it possible we may see a real debate on the subject????
Real debate....meaning the opposite of the Liberal riots at Berkeley.

Progressives are incapable of true thought on race or culture as they purposefully mingle the two as to make any discussion on culture about race, at which point they push to deny discussion by then using accusations of racism. Some cultures do not mingle with western values. The ironic side effect of progressives forcing this notion of global citizenship has led to immigrant and refugee groups self segregating and then claiming to be victims within the host country. Would any progressive be willing to emigrate to a middle eastern country and then make demands upon that country to accommodate their social discomfort? I think not. They would assimilate.

The argument can be made, and you hinted at it, that one-worldism, based on the absurd view that everybody is the same, and all just want to get along....Islamic massacres notwithstanding....is the basis for the wish of Liberals/Progressives/Democrats to end national sovereignty, and open borders.

We can thank the dunces who own and operate the school system....and you know who those are.

I disagreed with his opinions, but I don't think he should be professionally disciplined for it.
He's not doing so great with the balance wheel, either, imo.

9. "Demetriou said he doesn’t share his expressed views in class .... although he’s “ideologically right in a very ideologically left world,” he said, he’s not involved in any political groups on campus.

As to where, if anywhere, his free speech rights overlap with his responsibilities as a member of his campus community, he asked what might be said of “professors who on their social media advocate for ‘punching Nazis’ or overthrowing an elected government via the ‘deep state’? I don't see such outbursts as immoral, inappropriate or even ill advised ....

Professors elsewhere have landed in hot water with their administrations for making comments about groups of people on social media -- even after their administrations initially backed their right to free speech.

Steven Salaita lost a promised job at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for the tone of his anti-Israel comments on Twitter, and Oberlin College dismissed Joy Karega for posting anti-Semitic and other demonstrably false statements about world events on her Facebook page, for example.

Boston University also eventually distanced itself from Saida Grundy, a sociology professor who made controversial comments about white people.

In a reverse example, Drexel University condemned George Ciccariello-Maher, who over the winter holidays tweeted that his wish list consisted of "white genocide." It later backed the professor's right to academic freedom, after scholars criticized the university and pointed out that the tweet was sarcastic and grounded in Ciccariello-Maher's academic work." Professor's anti-immigration comments on social media fuel a day of action on campus
