Is it because they felt no one was listening to them, or did Obama empower them somehow?

I would argue that the reason why it came to a head was that with the proliferation of Cell Phones, we can see actual photographic evidence of mostly white police abusing people of color.

This most certainly not a new issue. When four cops were caught on tape beating Rodney King senseless, it was a shock to white people, but Blacks knew this had been going on all the time. When Mark Fuhrman was caught on tape blurting out the N-word dozens of times, talking about beating minorities, framing minorities, pulling over interracial couples for the fun of it, white people were shocked, absolutely shocked there was racism in the police department.

Blacks saw it as validation of what they already knew, and then proceeded to acquit OJ Simpson.

Now everyone has cell phones, and when the cops abuse Sandra Bland, Walter Scott, Eric Garner, those kids at the Texas Pool Party, someone is going to capture it on tape.

What does President Dickweed have to do with "Black Lives Matter"? He didn't have anything to do with it, he just happened to be the one in the Oval Office when the underlying incidents that caused it to form happened. It's not like he's responsible for any of the police shootings that set this whole thing off, the police forces involved in them aren't even under his control nor are the courts that were responsible for adjudicating the cases.

Perhaps he could have used the bully pulpit a bit more effectively to calm tensions after the fact but what do you expect? he's a dickweed and he's really not competent enough to do much of anything right.

I think this recent political cartoon perfectly sums-up both the historical and present attitude of the Democratic Party towards BLM, eh?

But... the Democrats count on Sheeple being Sheeple, and voting how they're told to vote.

Sheeple come in all colors... including Black and Brown... and, of course, in the final analysis, they'll do what they're told.

What's the problem with that... Groups have formed for years to give them collective power to allowing them to get behind a candidate... Clinton has shown that she is listening to the grievances and wants to address the problem...

You have no problem when a bunch a rich guys get together to pick a candidate which suits their agenda as long as their agenda suits you...

While not all republicans are racists but a racist has more of a home in the GOP...

Well they aren't voting for Trump or Cruz....
They have figured out that lining the pockets of the rich does nothing for them...
The GOP have nothing to offer them...

The joke is the US is far better shape at the end of Obama than at the start...

Lets make it very clear, under any other system the GOP would not see power for a generation for how the over saw the Banking crisis happen... In a proper democracy they would have got pummelled at the polls...
