All of the dictators you describe had very high self esteem. That's why they took the route that they did. They also didn't want a challenge to their rule so they murdered anyone who might give them a problem. Your hero, the obummer, was using the IRS to go after people he didn't like. That is what got nixon sent to the woodshed. But obummer, your hero, was allowed to skate.

It's a very small step from IRS abuse to just sending people you don't like to prison for not liking you.
