Why does the House have no say on the budget?

Another whiner whining.

The House doesn't have a say, you say? Are you effing kidding?

Do you even know what the Continuing Resolution is and does? It's the Republican-approved Sequester Budget that Harry Reid and then Obama signed off on. It cuts discretionary spending as well as spending on a host of liberal issues.

Why Republicans aren't passing it is baffling.

But to say they have no say is just stupid, when it's a conservative budget in the first place in a land where they only control one third of the government.

Obama gave them $9 in spending cuts last year for every $1 in tax increases, and you have the nerve to ask why Republicans don't have a say? Are you retarded?

This whole economy is still modeled after the Republican scam that is "trickle down", which really means trickle down pain for regular people but unlimited wealth for the very few.

Stop bitching. This is a Republican free market still at work for Mitt Romney and all your other heroes, just not you and every other regular person in this country.

Get a clue.

You state that Obama gave Republicans $9 in spending cuts for every $1 in tax increases last year and you tell others to get a clue? Wow...care to back that up with some statistics?

No kidding. You're not getting any proof of that lie.

In fact it was the exact opposite...yet progressives here don't seem to know that! I guess that's what happens when you get your viewpoint from MSNBC and The Huffington Post.

I keep asking liberals this and not getting an answer. You say over and over that Obama and Reid don't have to negotiate, the minority Republicans have no say. But the Republicans are the majority in the House, and according to the Constitution, spending bills have to pass the House.

So how is it that when Obama/Reid won't negotiate, it's the Republicans who have no say and are the ones shutting down government? Stop dodging and answer the question.

Fact of the matter is the House has said no to negotiations many times since the Senate passed it's budget in March.

Also have you wondered why Boehner reneged on his deal with Reid?

The Dems will negotiate over entitlements and taxes. They will not negotiate over ObamaCare.

Simple to understand and yet sails a mile over the GOP's head.

Which is why it's the fault of the Democrats. The GOP controlled house is not required to pass anything just because the Democrats will not negotiate. And it's as you accurately pointing out the Democrats who will not negotiate.

House - Republican
Senate - Democrat
White House - Democrat.

That means the sides have to ... wait for it ... agree to a compromise.

That's true, they proved they can shut down the government. They could continue to sit on their balls too.

Wow, now I hate those meanie Republicans. Boehner didn't have the authority to speak for the Republican party and make a deal on their behalf. He probably realized that he was going to be chicken food if he didn't stand up on this.

So after all that spin, did you need to sit down for a minute? The Democrats have been clear that there will be no negotiation until they get their way first. And wasn't just referring to the party heads. You libs on the board are endlessly saying they are the minority party, STFU when they are the majority in the house. But hey, you're just baaaaking up your leaders...

Article 1, Section 7, And they're standing their ground.
I love how the people who know the least about the Constitution hide behind it the most!

Artical 1, Section 7 of the US Constitution:
All bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills.

So we see that it is REVENUE bills that originate in the House, not SPENDING bills, and furthermore the Senate can amend ANY House bills, whether revenue or spending or otherwise. So quite in accordance with the Constitution of the US, the Senate amended the House bill, approved the amendment, and sent the bill back to the House. Boner then refused to bring up the amended bill, knowing it would pass, and thus owns the shutdown entirely himself.
NO SHIT SHERLOCK. Dingy Harry Reid is intentionally stopping appropriate legislation to make Republicans look bad. The intent is GLARING.

*IDIOT*

Boehner has just declared he'll give a 6-week extension, if they make it legally impossible for the Treasury to solve the problem in the future.

Which is like a bomber promising not to set off any bombs for 6 weeks, as long as you dissolve the bomb squad.

Naturally, the proposal is going nowhere.

Various amendments were voted on, and all these amendments were debated.

He didn't ASK you that...ORINGINATED...

Can YOU not read?

The ACA faced debate before every single amendment was voted on, and before the final bill was voted on.

House Debt-Ceiling Plan Would Ban ?Emergency? Measures - Washington Wire - WSJ
---
WASHINGTON – The House Republican plan to extend the debt ceiling for six weeks would permanently ban the Treasury Department from using extraordinary measures to avoid default, congressional aides said.

The provision would ban practices, used by Democratic and Republican administrations for decades, which have effectively allowed the Treasury to limit investments in pensions and other funds when the government bumps up against its borrowing limit. These steps have extended the time that Treasury can continue borrowing and paying the nation’s bills while Congress debates terms for raising the debt ceiling.

AND that's the point. It wasn't. Opposing legislation was shot down.

“It’s obvious why the majority has cooked up this amendment in secret, has introduced it in the middle of a snowstorm, has scheduled the Senate to come in session at midnight, has scheduled a vote for 1 a.m., is insisting that it be passed before Christmas — because they don’t want the American people to know what’s in it,” said

Senator Lamar Alexander, Republican of Tennessee.

The Affordable Health Care for America Act (or HR 3962)[1] was a bill that was crafted by the United States House of Representatives in November 2009. At the encouragement of the Obama administration, the 111th Congress devoted much of its time to enacting reform of the United States' health care system. Known as the "House bill," it was the House of Representative's chief legislative proposal during the health reform debate, but the Affordable Health Care for America Act as originally drafted never became law.

all amendments were debated.

all alternatives to the ACA that didn't have the support of the majority of the Democrats didn't come up for a vote, just as Boehner today refuses to let a clean CR come up for a vote because a majority of the GOP doesn't support it.

irony huh?
