What is confusing me is how people keep saying that gays will sue churches to marry them, and yet the Catholic Church has never been successfully sued by divorcees for the same issue.

The difference there isnt some large powerful divorced couples lobby that seems to be bent on making people not only tolerate same sex marriages but condone them. Divorced and remarried people dont have some group seeking acceptance of thier relationships from society as a whole, gays do.
