Why Is Prostitution Illegal?

It’s too profitable and compromising as an illegal operation/s to be legalized is my guess..

Because people wanna pick your morals for you. My moral code does not allow me to use such services. This does not give me the right to choose your code for you. People do not have empathy. They do not walk in another's shoes. They are willing to thrust their code on you. I would not be very happy if a law was written that forced me to use such services. I in turn do not wanna force my moral code on someone else.

Hard to believe any girl or boy wishes when they were young to one day make a living by having strange sex with strangers.
They do in Thailand....one of the countries that has sex tourism....so does the UAE. Dubai is also famous for their escorts.

Those fibers have been pretty ratty for centuries.

I'm not sure a few working girls could damage them any further.
So we should embrace the change, and approve the decline? Nah. If given the opportunity, I would not be a public official that would vote to approve hastening the speed of decline of community standards, struggling, already.

What naivete! What a simplistic view of what prostitution is. It's like Pretty Woman, yeah. It's Butterfield 8. It's chicken ranches and singing by Dolly Parton. What babies you all are.

Although I believe very strongly in the fact that sex should only be when two people (a man and a woman) are in love, as long as they're both consenting adults I don't see what the issue is.

People (being adults) should feel free to live their own lives, and if that means having sex for money then so be it. Who would it harm?
It's legal in 44 states to eat dogs, but you can't pay for sex.

I'm glad you got one that let you feel that way.

Is it marriage has nothing to do with love, or marriage has nothing to do with commercial sex.
‘Love’ was in quotes. IMO, sex includes love and mutual commitment. I don’t do ‘strange’

I am not a big believer that love, sex and commitment actually go together. They can but it's not necessary. I spent a few years putting myself through law school by beating men bloody for money. I never thought of this as sex for money but some do. It was consensual and paid very well. Was it moral?

In my opinion prostitution demeans women to the lowest common denominator and results in child sex trafficking and forced servitude. I can only imagine how mentally dysfunctional those that survive become when they are all washed up and left out too hang and dry.

Not too worry sex bots will soon be available for the socially challenged. One has to differentiate between the differences of casual sex, between two willing participants, and prostitution. Regretfully expediency and ease rules the day.

Why is prostitution illegal? Probably because there are a bunch of "holier than thou" Christians in positions of power in this country who would never allow it.

I've been to several places where prostitution was legal...............Spain, Italy and Turkey just to name a few. In all of those places, the escorts had health cards available for inspection, and if you checked out her card and it was out of date, you could just walk away (check had to be done before getting naked though).

All of the women in those places were there of their own free will, all of them gave the patrons quick health checks (basically a quick visual and tug to look for any signs of disease like lesions) and scrubbed you down, and all of them used condoms.

The red light district in Catania, Sicily was an interesting place. If you went there before 5:00 pm, there was nobody there. But, around 5:30 or so, taxis started showing up, and the women got out in street clothes. They would go into their room, change, and then come sit out on the street in lingerie, advertising their wares. The place was also heavily patrolled by both the local police and the Carabineri (Italian special police), and even had a couple of bars in it.

Around midnight or so, the women would go back into their rooms, change back into street clothes, catch a taxi, and go home for the night.

Brothels in Spain were pretty nice places as well. They had bars on the street floor full of attractive women. They would come up and talk to you for a minute or two, then ask if you were interested in their services. If you said no, they went on to the next person. If you said yes, they then told you the prices, but once that was done, they would start talking to you like they just met you in the bar. Then, when you were ready, they took you upstairs, and you completed your business with them. Then, you could stop back in the bar for another drink (or another lady), or head out the door to do something else.

I personally think prostitution should be legalized. Then, the criminals who are using the women (or worse, kids) for sex slaves could be prosecuted, the women would have access to the police if they needed it, as well as health inspections could be required and enforced. Other countries have it right in my opinion.
