Why isn't Obama accused of rattling sabers?

Teddy Roosevelt did the same thing

A show of force is an effective deterrent. I only wish Bush resorted to a show of force rather than US invasions

You mean a show of force like this??
"Between 1999 and 2001, the U.S. and British-led air forces in Iraq dropped 1.3 million pounds of bombs in response to purported violations of the no-fly zones and anti-aircraft fire from Saddam Hussein.

A sweeping attack, conducted in January of 1999, rained down 25 missiles on Iraqi soil, killing civilians. Clinton said the attack was in response to four planes violating the no-fly zones.

Clinton and British Prime Minister Tony Blair authorized air strikes on more than 100 days in 1999, sometimes several times per day. The bombings were ostensibly in response to Husseins refusal to allow UN weapons inspectors into the country, though critics alleged the move was aimed at deflecting attention from impeachment.
The Raw Story | Clinton bombing of Iraq far exceeded Bush's in run-up to war; Bush 'spikes of activity' questioned

AND..
"When Clinton was here recently he told me he was absolutely convinced, given his years in the White House and the access to privileged information which he had, that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction until the end of the Saddam regime," he said in an interview with Portuguese cable news channel SIC Noticias.
Clinton believes Iraq had weapons of mass destruction: Portugal PM

But that was a show of force that Saddam ignored obviously.
So even with the above show of force failed.. you would walk away from 100,000 children starving to death because Saddam refused to obey UN sanctions and the US agreed to provide enforcement?

Really? Where were you two when Obama deployed 50000 new troops to Afganistan?

Strongly against it, of course.

But my anger was mitigated by the knowledge that he wasn't the one who put us in that shit hole in the first place.

Easiest question I'll get all day.

.

STRONGLY, LOL, Strongly yet I have never seen you make one post even mentioning Obama and Afghanistan in the same sentence. Never mind that Afghanistan was the good war that Obama was all for. Never mind that Obama had a surge and cost more American lives then Bush did in 8. Never mind that after 4 years Obama admits failure.

Yeah you were strongly against yet never made mention.........right.

As you know, he was not the Commander in Chief who put us there.

You wanted it, you like it, you defend it, you own it. Not me.

Tough shit. Enjoy.

Did you bbq yesterday?

No, dammit. However, I did see that you did ribs with a local rub, and that REALLY pissed me off. I'll bet it was good, ay?

.

First adding more missles. Then dropping fake bombs from stealth bombers. And now sending over stealth fighters to Korea.

When Bush SPOKE in harsh terms he was accused of fear mongering and beating the war drums. Yet here obama is actually taking provocative actions and not a peep?

Mind you I'm not saying what he's doing is right or wrong I'm simply mystified by the GLARING double standard.

IMO The President is channeling TR, "speak softly and carry a big stick". Bush, "bring it one" was bellicose.

Because bush/cheney murders are in the hundreds of thousands. cheney/bush provoked their dirty wars by lying. North Korea has been saber rattling for decades. What's Obama to do? If he does nothing the republicans would say, why isn't he doing something? I'm glad we have a level head like Obama rather than a banty rooster bush strutting around saying "Im the decider, I'm a war prezident"
Where were the bush/cheney kill happies during Vietnam? I ended up non combat but at least I showed up to help out 1963-1967

Look at all the butthurt GOP victims in this thread. The party of personal responsibility folks.

Gee, what to believe, hearsay from a whacko 3rd party source, or a statement straight from the horses mouth????

"We are now convinced Saddam has no weapons of mass destruction or active programs."

Its like, I kinda hate talking politics these days because 90% of the people are hypocrites.

Obama tried very hard to stay in Iraq.

Obama expanded the Patriot act.

Obama kept stimulating the economy like Bush.

Obama Kept bailing the rich out, like Bush.

Obama expanded Afghanistan.

Obama got us involved in several other mini wars similar to that of Iraq.

Obama spends more than Bush.

Obama divides the country more so than Bush.

If you hated Bush it's just not fucking possible for you to logically support and like/love/whatever Obama... Likewise, if you hate Obama you can't logically support what Bush did... Their foreign policy is literally identical. Their economic policy is literally identical.

Obama is a horrible speaker, Bush was a horrible speaker, lol...

Lets try and focus on today, who is in power today... Are their policies working today... The answer is no, so instead of bringing up Bush, the guy with the same failed ass policies of vastly more Government, maybe we should consider changing these policies.

The biggest differences between Bush and Obama..
Bush GAVE MORE to charities as a % of income.
Bush PAID more as a % in taxes.
Bush NEVER NEVER accused the military of methodically and constantly "air-raiding villages and killing citizens" as Obama did.
Bush NEVER advocated as Obama did:
1) says "I'd like higher gas prices.."
2) said:“Under my plan....electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.
3) said: So, if somebody wants to build a coal[electric utility] plant, they can it’s just that it will bankrupt them,!"
4)Told Brazil.."we'll be your best [oil] customer".
5) said "I favor single payer insurance".. meaning 1,400 insurance companies stop: paying $100 billion in Fed/state/local taxes as well as LOCAL property taxes.
400,000 employees let go collecting $6 billion in unemployment checks!

PLUS Obama as all other Presidents NEVER FACED what Bush faced in his 8 years... AND I'D like ANY of you to refute these cataclysmic events!

1) Dot.com bust cost $5 trillion in lost market value.. this means every year for 30 years now starting in 2000 the federal revenue is over $66 billion written off against taxes owed.
How many people LOST jobs due to the bust??
According to the Los Angeles Times, when the dot-com bubble burst, it wiped out $5 trillion dollars in market value for tech companies. More than half of the Internet companies created since 1995 were gone by 2004 -
and hundreds of thousands of skilled technology workers were out of jobs.

2) Did YOU forget that 9/11 occurred and it cost $2 trillion over the next 30 years again $33 billion will NOT BE PAiD.. was that Bush's fault?
Jobs lost in New York owing to the attacks: 146,100 JUST in New York!!
Year 2001: September 11 Terrorist Attacks
The 9/11 terrorist attacks were the events that helped shape other financial events of the decade. After that terrible day in September 2001, our economic climate was never to be the same again. It was only the third time in history that the New York Stock Exchange was shut down for a period of time. In this case, it was closed from September 10 - 17. Besides the tragic human loss of that day, the economic loss cannot even be estimated. Some estimate that there was over $60 billion in insurance losses alone.
Approximately 18,000 small businesses were either displaced or destroyed in Lower Manhattan after the Twin Towers fell. There was a buildup in homeland security on all levels. 9/11 caused a catastrophic financial loss for the U.S.
The Top 10 Financial Events of the Decade

3) $1 trillion in written off losses due to the WORST Hurricane SEASONS in history!
The worst Katrina made landfall in Louisiana as a Category 3 in 2005. It took 1,836 lives and caused $81.2 billion in damages. Andrew slammed into South Florida in 1992 as a Category 5. It caused 40 deaths and $30 billion in property damage. More than 250,000 people were left homeless and 82,000 businesses were destroyed or damaged.
Hurricane Katrina ALONE! Year 2005: Hurricanes Katrina and Rita
On August 25, 2005, Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast of the U.S. as a strong Category 3 or low Category 4 storm. It quickly became the biggest natural disaster in U.S. history, almost destroying New Orleans due to severe flooding.

Hurricane Rita quickly followed Katrina only to make matters worse. Between the two, more than $200 billion in damage was done. 400,000 jobs were lost and 275,000 homes were destroyed. Many of the jobs and homes were never to be recovered. Hundreds of thousands of people were displaced and over 1,000 were killed and more are missing. The effect on oil and gasoline prices was long-lasting.

400,000 jobs due to Hurricanes Katrina/Rita
145,000 jobs in NYC alone due to 9/11
300,000 jobs lost due to dot.com busts.

Almost 1 million jobs alone from those 3 events

4) Economic terrorist attack 9/18/2008 or how the world almost came to the end at 2pm on 9/18/2008.
How close to entire collapse the ENTIRE world's economy was on 9/18/2008 when an economic terrorist attack occurred..

On Thursday (Sept 18), at 11am the Federal Reserve noticed a tremendous draw-down of money market accounts in the U.S., to the tune of $550 billion was being drawn out in the matter of an hour or two. The Treasury ...estimation is that by 2pm that afternoon, $5.5 trillion would have been drawn out of the money market system of the U.S., would have collapsed the entire economy of the U.S., and within 24 hours the world economy would have collapsed. It would have been the end of our economic system and our political system as we know it."

How can one ignore that near 1 million jobs were lost DUE to those events?
How can one ignore THAT the results of these events have never been widely share because the biased MSM totally bashes Bush FACTS?
-------------------
When Bush started 131,785,000 people employed.
At the end of 2008 136,790,000 people employed or

5,000,000 more employed then when he took office.

When Bush took office in 2001 GDP was $12.355,271,000,000
when Bush left office in 2008 GDP was $14,359,490,000,000
---------------------------------------------------------------------
A 16% increase in GDP or $2 TRILLION.

ALL of the above GAINS in GDP and people employed IN SPITE of the 4 major world changing events AND the BASHING by the BIASED MSM!

So PLEASE TELL Me again where the above statements by Obama and events Bush faced EVER were similar???

Please don't defend Bush to me, he was a horrible person and a worse President. I really don't care that a man cut taxes while injecting trillions in stimulus spending to prop up a housing/college bubble. Fact is it wouldn't last and in the end the predictable outcome was a bubble bursting, like it did and of course massive deficits and debt. Obama simply is trying very very very hard to do the same things. Cash for clunkers, the first time home buyers credit, energy projects, more college funds and more wars... All welfare in hopes it create a bubble.

The problem is the wealth over many years has been destroyed due to this type of economic stimulus. There is a reason credit needs to be nearly handed to people, because they lack the savings to put 10-20% down.

And when Bush started there were 6 million unemployed and when he left there were 12 million unemployed and rising, so that is a net loss of 1 million jobs.

Are you guy's aware that in your attempts to excuse your own hypocrisy on the subject you're actually pointing at past presidents. So not only does obama blame them for his problems now you do too?

The America of today, led by Barack Obama, would have surrendered completely and totally to the Empire of Japan shortly after the Battle of the Coral Sea, May, 1942. Sabre brattling? NK knows Comrade Barack would never declare war on a fellow Communist. B2 overflights and F 22 Raptors are simply stage props and window dressing for the folks back home. The only group Obama has the cojones and the desire to go to war against are those evil white conservative Americans back home.
