Why the fuck would a company hire someone and not tell the person

"But when you are hired and receive a offer letter you think you are employed again. Only to find another barrier to employment"

Sounds like NEED to me.

If everybody needed a job so bad then they would all pay $7.25 an hour. There would be no jobs paying $7.26 an hour or higher. There is this misconception that companies always have the upper hand. There is another misconception that employees always have the upper hand. The truth is that there are billions of variables. Sometimes you are the bug. Sometimes you are the windshield. The world is more complex than,

"The company always screws the employees and the employees just has to take it."

The world is way more diverse than that.
To many people I know settle for employment that sucks.

I have noticed that too.
All jobs suck, get old and are boring......I usually whore myself out to the highest bidder for my labor...

I don't agree.

All days have their moments...but so do marriages...and I don't advocate breaking them up.

And no company has to make your job interesting. You can do that yourself within reason.

But if your job sucks....find a new one.
I do all the time, it's called self employment, been doing it for around 30 years....

For a floor sweeping job?

I'm not sure but I think he said it was 60 questions. I think he'll do fine with the test. The problem is that he felt like he was swindled. It doesn't matter if he was swindled or not. The important thing to remember is that he will feel that way indefinitely. That anger is bound to rear its ugly head eventually. He needs to get out of dodge before he does something that he will regret later. Nobody should ever work for a company that mistreats them unless they enjoy being mistreated. In that case they should stay and ask for more. He just doesn't seem like the kind of guy that enjoys abuse.
Since your fresh off the boat I will let you in on a little something........

They don't have to tell you shit. Do your fucking job and shut up.

They don't have to tell me I will receive a 60 question mutiple choice test after lunch without notice??

Somehow I question that.

But others have said you should just "do your job".

Me, I don't work for companies that don't communicate things like that.

It sounds like shoddy management. Pass the test...keep working...and start looking for the next job. To many people I know settle for employment that sucks.

There are far more employees that suck

So if they get high and go to work, it's no loss anyhow?

They don't make it that far.

If that were true then all good employees would be making $100,000 per year because companies would want to avoid the risk of accidentally hiring an employee that sucks.

I doubt that all good employees are paid well.

I doubt that all employees that suck are paid poorly.

There are far more employees that suck

That can certainly be an issue.

Government interference in company practices often forces them to keep people on who should have been let go a long time ago.

You also have owners who suck.

I've seen far to many people endure bad jobs because they are just not quite bad enough.

Then again, I know people who complain about their jobs who don't do them very well.

No... depending on the job. Starting rate 25/30k potential to move up to 40/50 k after whatever guidelines the company allows for posting out/up.

Are you saying that there are no good employees making $24,999 or less?

No... depending on the job. Starting rate 25/30k potential to move up to 40/50 k after whatever guidelines the company allows for posting out/up.

Wouldn't that mean that if a good employee put in a two week notice then the company would offer the good employee $25,000 or more in order to stay? That way he wouldn't run the risk of hiring a replacement that sucks.

Just maybe there are good employees out there willing to work for less than $24,999.

I'm saying the starting rate for base jobs in most corporations is around 25/30k ... less maybe if you work for a temp to hire agency.

Yep. Many corporations keep employees they shouldn't due to the regulations they put on themselves. Sometimes it's harder to lay someone off then just move them around dept to dept hoping for a better fit or for them to quit on their own.

because I like to know when a test is so I can prepare for the shit

Shit happens in life that you can't prepare for. Grow a sack, man up and face the test. It can't be that hard. Part of "the test" is probably seeing if you can handle this little bit off stress.

Exactly, I've put guys to the test to determine whether or not they are the type of person who freaks out under pressure. Mostly when I was considering them for a promotion to a foreman position.

Yep. They did that to me recently when I started my new job. They are looking to see if they get push back OR if employees are good with change, multitasking and learning multiple aspects of a job so that if someone leaves others can step in with a smooth transaction. The more you know and are willing to learn... The more valuable you are.

But unemployment is only 26 weeks and I thought I was working again

So you're taking tests for free?

If I fail the TEST I would have to get unemployment again
Maybe you should have tried harder to learn the job.
The company is paying you to perform a function. You probably should have learned your function

let me try this again

I haven't taken a fucking test since college which was over a decade ago so all of this was a surprise to me
Tough Shit.
