Why the the left should NEVER try exploiting the Bible

You did a lot of nothing.
I just exposed the fact that you cite a left-wing entertainment company to back up your laughable position that Judea has abortion clinics.

Only a left-wing ideologue would call that kind of research and supporting documentation "a lot of nothing".

That does nothing to dispute the facts presented "Patriot". Do you honestly believe abortion is a modern construct? The Bible describes how to perform one. You've never read it have you?

Two Corinthians go into a bar...

Trump really is the guy for you.

No...it makes you an asshole for claiming that anyone stated they believe a politician over the Pope when it comes to religion. Nobody made that statement. The premise of this thread is how you left-wing hatriots who have never even opened the Bible attempt to exploit it for political purposes.

So you agree with the pope?

Pope Francis called for governments to do their part to aid the poor by redistributing wealth in a spirit of generosity. Pope Francis made the plea on Friday during a speech to U.N. Secretary General Ban Kai Moon.
No - I don't agree with the Pope at all. The Catholic Church is damn near as corrupt as governments. And I don't agree with the left-wing politicians exploiting the Bible (which they've never read).

I agree with liberty. I agree with free will.

So you are for politics over pope. Very Christian of you.
The Pope isn't one and the same as the authority of God nor is he elected to determine what happens in 'the peoples government'. We do not abide for the catholic church that mere humans created as it is not the authority that rules over our spirit 'God the Father' is who rules our hearts and minds and the Popeness' will never overcome that.

So you just make up what God wants. Funny.
I don't accept your Pope as the authority over my mind, my spirit or my government and never will. At this point I am truly wondering if he isn't one of the Sêmîazâz or at a minimum one of the followers of the 'fallen'. Also I have no need to "make up" anything as it is already written both in Word and in my heart. The Word confirms that but evidently you do not know the "Word" well enough to know that.

Women were terminating pregnancies back then.
:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Yeah....that started with the landmark decision in Judea: Row vs. Wade. When Jesus got out of the boat, his disciples had to decide whether to keep rowing or whether to follow him and have to wade in the water if they couldn't walk on it like he could.

Christ you can be ridiculously stupid sometimes...

Abortion in the Ancient and Premodern World
They also had torture and slavery in the ancient world....

Abortion was clearly seen as murder even then, but murder was literally commonplace.

You didn't read the article did you?

The right of women to seek abortions was not restricted in many places until fairly recently, with most restrictions being related to the time of "quickening" or fetal movement. Even Plato proclaimed the right of women to seek early terminations of pregnancies in "Theaetetus", but specifically he spoke of the right of midwives to offer the procedure. In early times, most pregnancies were not managed by doctors so it was logical that abortion be provided by midwives and herbalists.
Again, abortion was ok because murder was literally seen as a viable alternative.

Liberals are more Jesus like than the hate filled righties .
If Jesus was alive today, he'd rip the nails out of his own hands to climb down and bitch slap every stinking illegal loving lefty. grrr (-

Whenever you get into a political debate wh these fake Christians, ask them to list the 10 commandments. Most of them can't .

It's al a carte Christianity ! "I'll take the gay hating , but not the help the poor part. Thank you Jesus !"
"Fake Christians" indeed. Jesus wasn't about the government. Note that He didn't say anything about the way the Romans treated His people, the Jews. He didn't want the government "taking care of people", He wanted His Church to do that. So, trying to apply Christian beliefs to government policy is begging for a theocracy, and I would bet that most of those insisting Christians apply Scripture to government would abhor such a theocracy. Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it.

So, it begs the question. Why do "liberals" try to use Scripture to bolster their policies when they would run screaming into the night should that actually happen?

Jesus lived under a dictatorship .

We are a democracy. The people are the government.

Sounds socialist

If anyone would know what Jesus would want it is him.

This popiness gives me pause....and I'm Catholic

Don't put politics above God.

Don't politics in God. That's what the Pope tried to do

He is helping the poor as Jesus would.

Just curious, how is he helping the poor?

So your main concern here is to assert your right to tell Jesus to go fuck himself when it comes to issues such as helping the poor.

Interesting.

Easy to notice that 1 out of 6 children goes to be hungry in the US every night. Where are the 'Christians'? It's obvious government can't carry the whole load so why haven't these oh so good Christians just taken on themselves to help the poor and ignore what the government does. If churches helped all these people the government would not have to spend any money to begin with.

Feeding them with their labor and sacrifice

The problem with his statement is churches carry the bulk of helping the less fortunate.

I work with an Outreach, I have for nearly 12 years and I've yet to see any atheists groups, or agnostic groups out there feeding the poor. But I've seen a boatload of religious groups, not all Christian, I've seen people from many faiths.

I agree. It isn't about helping the poor to them. Its about controlling our money.

Of they aired about helping the poor they would be giving their time and their money rather than pretending they do something by giving away another's time and money through violence

You people cling to the same fake memes because you will cling to anything that lets you continue to be selfish. 'Control your money'? Meaningless. Everyone is taxed. Stop your whining. Jesus never said 'help the poor unless you don't feel like it'.

"What you do for the least of these my brothers you do also for me".

Your answer is to do nothing but whine about paying taxes. Snowflakes all.

You aren't helping the poor. You're outsourcing your responsibility to politicians who are more than happy to skim 95% off the top for themselves and their friends.

Nobody whether rich or poor should be paying more than 10% of their income in taxes. Even that is high

The left is all over the news, social media, and even right here on USMB these days attempting to exploit the Bible for their own political gain. Whenever they are incapable of defending their irrational position, aside from screaming racist/homophobe/xenophobe/etc., they will invariably scream "the Bible says to redistribute wealth". The problem, of course, is that the Bible says no such thing. And they would know that if they didn't hate the Bible and religion. It's a bad idea to attempt to quote something one has never read.
Josh Protas, the vice president of public policy at MAZON, a Jewish anti-hunger group...quoted a verse in Leviticus. Not to be outdone, Rep. Jodey Arrington quoted a Bible verse of his own, saying, “If a man will not work he shall not eat.”

“I did hear Mr. Protas, your opening remarks, where you quoted Leviticus, I believe — and I think that’s a great reflection on the character of God and the compassion of God’s heart and how we ought to reflect that compassion in our lives,” Arrington said. “But there’s also, you know, the Scripture, tells us in 2 Thessalonians chapter 3:10, he says, ‘for even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: if a man will not work, he shall not eat.’ And then he goes on to say ‘we hear that some among you are idle.’

Boom! Talk about a knockout blow. This is what happens to a person who doesn't know the Bible and yet attempts to exploit it for the evils of socialism/marxism/communism.

Libs FURIOUS! Texas Republican Has 10 BRUTAL Words For Food Stamp Junkies
If the republicans stopped using the bible as a mask, libs wouldn't have to keep pointing out the hypocrisy.

And that is the heart of it isn't it. Many claim to be 'Christians' but their entire lives are spent acting in direct opposition to what Christ stood for.

Sitting in a church no more makes you a Christian than sitting in a garage makes you a car.

We've already established you don't know what Christ stood for

But the right does and judges everyone based on the damn thing.

I think the right are all children of satan.

Pope: It's better to be an atheist than a bad Christian - CNN.com

(CNN)If you're a Christian who exploits people, leads a double life or manages a "dirty" business, perhaps it's better not to call yourself a believer, Pope Francis suggested in a homily on Thursday in Rome.

Evangelicals are the worst. They are so two-faced it's like they have a revolving head.

"If you're a Christian who exploits people, leads a double life or manages a "dirty" business, perhaps it's better not to call yourself a believer", Pope Francis suggested in a homily on Thursday in Rome.

"So many Christians are like this, and these people scandalize others," Francis said during morning Mass at Casa Santa Marta, according to Vatican Radio. "How many times have we heard -- all of us, around the neighborhood and elsewhere -- 'But to be a Catholic like that, it's better to be an atheist.' It is that: scandal."
"But what is scandal? Scandal is saying one thing and doing another."

This is conservative Kristianity. Saying one thing and doing the opposite.
Regardless, peoples personal beliefs have no place in shaping policy. Separation of church and state. Politicians like pence who use their extremist religious beliefs to form laws are despicable, a threat to our nation, and our way of life.

You realize you cannot use your personal beliefs to shape policy, so what you've just said is meaningless using your logic unless you hypocritically exempt your personal beliefs.

"Everybody wants to rule the world" but most cannot keep themselves much less rule over another.

Let me rephrase. Ones personal religious beliefs have no place in forming policies. Just because one person follows a certain faith doesn't mean it should be the law of the land. America is about religious freedom. The freedom to worship your sky fairies in your house hold, without shoving them upon legislation dictating others lives.

even if there was just a suspicion of a wife's infidelity... then by all means, kill that growing seed from another man.

Numbers 5:11-22King James Version (KJV)
11 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

12 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, If any man's wife go aside, and commit a trespass against him,

13 And a man lie with her carnally, and it be hid from the eyes of her husband, and be kept close, and she be defiled, and there be no witness against her, neither she be taken with the manner;

14 And the spirit of jealousy come upon him, and he be jealous of his wife, and she be defiled: or if the spirit of jealousy come upon him, and he be jealous of his wife, and she be not defiled:

15 Then shall the man bring his wife unto the priest, and he shall bring her offering for her, the tenth part of an ephah of barley meal; he shall pour no oil upon it, nor put frankincense thereon; for it is an offering of jealousy, an offering of memorial, bringing iniquity to remembrance.

16 And the priest shall bring her near, and set her before the Lord:

17 And the priest shall take holy water in an earthen vessel; and of the dust that is in the floor of the tabernacle the priest shall take, and put it into the water:

18 And the priest shall set the woman before the Lord, and uncover the woman's head, and put the offering of memorial in her hands, which is the jealousy offering: and the priest shall have in his hand the bitter water that causeth the curse:

19 And the priest shall charge her by an oath, and say unto the woman, If no man have lain with thee, and if thou hast not gone aside to uncleanness with another instead of thy husband, be thou free from this bitter water that causeth the curse:

20 But if thou hast gone aside to another instead of thy husband, and if thou be defiled, and some man have lain with thee beside thine husband:

21 Then the priest shall charge the woman with an oath of cursing, and the priest shall say unto the woman, The Lord make thee a curse and an oath among thy people, when the Lord doth make thy thigh to rot, and thy belly to swell;

22 And this water that causeth the curse shall go into thy bowels, to make thy belly to swell, and thy thigh to rot: And the woman shall say, Amen, amen.

amen. :laugh2:
