Iowa is making it more difficult in a different fashion, where 100,000 former felons having completed their sentences are now being blocked from registering by the Republican Governor who has rolled back the law where felons who have served out their time can have their voting rights restored.

Sure, that's why Florida has a lifetime voting ban on felony convictions, that's 1.5 million people or 10% of the voting population.

Not the point. The examples illustrate the need for valid identification for many everyday things.

It is precisely the point. Voter rights cannot be curtailed anymore than gun owner's rights.

I don't believe the rights of Blacks are curtailed. There are simply a few basic requirements that ALL have to meet in order to vote. This includes Asians, Middle East folks, Whites, Hispanics, and even the coddled Blacks.

Not true. It is already required in some states and is working to prevent voter fraud. The ID is also used to prevent other types of fraud as well. The only conclusion as to why the Democrats are opposed to voter id is that they are not opposed to voter fraud.

If voter fraud was a real problem I assure you that Democrats would be there with a workable solution. But voter fraud is not a prevalent problem in the United States. Voter ID laws seek to solve a problem that does not exist. Therefore, the only real reason to require voter IDs is to suppress the vote. It's purely political.

1 fraudulent vote is too many. In a close election, a few fraudulent votes could change the outcome. But you dems know that and thats why you oppose voter ID laws.

Voter ID is voter suppression. There is not enough voter fraud to mandate a requirement that suppresses votes.

I think that it is a constitutional question as to whether states can create a lifetime sentence, after a sentence has been completed. It means that rehabilitation is impossible and I think it is incorrect. Of course that is why we have it, can't have Democrats voting and all.
