Washington doesn't magically transform just because you elect a new POTUS. You should have leaned that by now.

trump is in this campaign to stay. That should be fairly evident right now. He was over the top in the debater in my opinion but I don't see it costing him any support. I think it might actually have harmed Bush in that the whole thing about Bush became about defending his mother and father and brother. I think that the last five POTUS's radically transformed this country from left to right starting with Raygun and Shrub daddy, then back to left with Bubba, then back to right with Shrub Jr., then back to left with Obama.
