Family members of toddler in critical condition after West Bank arson attack

The three family members of a toddler burned alive in a West Bank arson attack on Friday are still in a critical condition with life-threatening injuries in a hospital near Tel Aviv.

The fatal arson attack that left 18-month-old Dawabsheh dead, believed to be carried out by Jewish settler extremists on Friday morning, has been called “terror” by both Israeli and Palestinian officials.

Joint Israeli-Palestinian Prayers to be Held for Arson Victims

An interfaith prayer session will be held by rabbis and sheikhs at the Gush Etzion junction on Sunday evening, in light of the arson attack on a Palestinian family in the Palestinian Authority (PA) village of Duma.

The Shorashim organization, as well as Rabbi David Stav and Rabbi Shlomo Riskin from Ohr Torah Stone, initiated the rally for the Dawabsha's family recovery.

Participants, so far, include Rabbi Yoel Bin Nun, Rabbi Mordechai Vardi, Rabbi Dov Singer, Rabbi Yaakov Meidan, Rabbi Yaakov Nagan, Rebbetzin Michal Nagan, Rebbetzin Hadassah Froman, Rabbi Benjamin Kalmanzon, Rabbi SarEl Rosenblatt and Rabbi Hanan Schlesinger, as well as Sheikhs Ali Abu Awad and Ibrahim Abu Al Hawa.

"We must loudly denounce these [types of] events," said Rabbi Shlomo Riskin. "The man who committed a terrible thing is a terrorist in every respect, and he deserves punishment in accordance with the law."

"The Temple, which was destroyed on Tisha B'Av, was a symbol of justice, mercy, and honesty," he continued. "When we lose our moral standards, we lose our holiness."

"The essential goal of the State of Israel is to be a light unto the nations and serve as a compass of justice and morality to the world, and if we do not make full efforts to fulfill that mission, we do not deserve a state."

If guilty then of course. Seems like the Israeli forces are actively looking for whomever did this. Betcha the perps will be caught and tried for their crimes.

I think they will. This is like the murder and burning alive of the Palestinian boy by Jewish extremists. They can't allow it to go unsolved - it threatens the very heart of who they are as a nation.

The Israeli defence minister, Moshe Ya’alon, said on Sunday he had instructed the Shin Bet security service, police and military to apply “administrative detention” on rightwing Jewish citizens suspected of involvement in terror attacks against Palestinians as a direct response to the firebombing in the West Bank village of Duma that left 18-month-old Ali Dawabsheh dead and critically injured his brother and parents.

Israel currently applies administrative detention solely to Palestinians and its extension to Israelis reflects the government’s frustration at the failure to track down the assailants. No suspects have been arrested in connection with Friday’s arson attack and no group has claimed responsibility.

A senior security official told Israeli Radio on Sunday: “There is no choice but to treat suspects of hate crimes against Palestinians the same way as Palestinian suspects of terror.”
