In one sense, yes they would.

I had a tenant that moved out a few years back. She and her BF lived there for several years. They survived on minimum wage jobs. Why? Because they were both pot heads and could barley get by working those jobs. Better jobs drug test employees.

It was always my hope they would realize that pot just isn't worth it. They would need to better their health and lives by going straight and seeking a career. It's still my hope for them wherever they are. They were otherwise good kids.

Now if we doubled the minimum wage, that would be less likely to happen. They would continue working those loser jobs until their 30's or 40's; maybe the rest of their lives. However if found in a situation of financial struggle, perhaps my wish for them would come true.
