They ignored the huge red flags that the British and the Red Cross were pulling their people out because of the unacceptable threat level. Then, when our people were attacked, they did nothing. They didn't lift a finger to help them. No one knew if the attack was going to last 3 hours, 13 hours or a week. When your people are attacked, you move heaven and earth to get to their aid. In the 80's my Wing conducted a two week exercise where we left South Carolina, flew to Idaho, flew tactical training missions then flew back to South Carolina--without landing. We were in the air all day. We hit a tanker every 90 minutes to 2 hours.
