Zone1 4th of July vs Juneteenth

Hard to say, England was enjoying the fruits of the East India Company and most likely would have let the practice continue in the Colonies. Remember, slavery was an economic institution and was responsible for keeping the economy on an even keel.
We were not governed by the East India Company

Your scenario was that we were still under English rule. I never said we would be governed by East India Company either. This is what happens when you get into 'woulda, shoulda, coulda' territory.

In 1833 England abolished slavery in the Colonies

The Confederates were willing to DIE to keep Blacks enslaved. That doesn't sound like slavery was "getting too expensive to maintain".
They weren't willing to die to keep blacks enslaved. They were willing to die to create a new country that was not under the economic boot of the north. Slavery was not the only issue.

Close

They wanted to create a nation where slavery would exist forever

Most Confederates didn't own a single slave. They believed they were fighting for the independence of their states from what they had been convinced was a rapacious Northern dominated federal government.

Yet, 40 percent of the Confederacy was enslaved

While they didn’t all own slaves, they profited from the slave economy.

They also feared free slaves taking their jobs and their women

True. But it was dying even then. All that remains today is the longing for slavery that blacks still have.

Actually, slavery was dying in the early 1800s.
The invention of the Cotton Gin made cotton immensely profitable as did the breeding of slaves to pick the cotton.
The slave population boomed.

By 1860, Cotton was the dominant economic product of the southern economy and the south exported around the world.

They were not going to give up their free labor and were willing to die for it.

And today blacks are dying in chasing slavery. Which is what the reinvigoration of Juneteeth is all about. Blacks live for slavery. It's all they think they are worth.
You are just making shit up

Blacks are celebrating their heritage.
It enrages conservatives

No "we" didn't. The United States did not fight to end slavery. The United States fought to put the union back together. The Confederacy was a separate nation and they fought for the preservation of slavery. Since the confederacy lost, the United States could set the terms, so slavery ending was one of them. Again, the confederacy was an entirely different country so trying to attach them to any American political party is inaccurate.

The "we" didn't include you. Your party fought to keep their slaves.

Wrong. The democrats in the United States fought for the preservation of the union. The confederacy was a separate nation with no political parties. Meanwhile, Republicans got a bill passed making slavery protected by a constitutional amendment.

By all means celebrate the heritage of slavery. They just can't rise out of it. They don't want to. After all, it really is all they have.
Wrong. But you provide evidence of how the same racism that created slavery exists now.

Even through I believe that slavery is idiocy and was counterproductive to whites. It is a instutition of blacks and arabs pretty much and we should have never had any part of it! I'll just say that freeing these people on our society has caused more bad then good. Juneteenth is pretty much a holiday about the downfall of our country...How could it be compared to July 4th? Literally the celebration of the greatest celebration of civilized human freedom?

And you really think you make sense. So using your logic whites are still chasing being a British colony when you celebrate July 4th.

Another example of why Juneteenth needs to be a national holiday
