I think the point you may be missing is that taxation IS being forced to pay. Although taxation does pay for needed services, taking money from one person and giving it to another causes a premium to be paid because of government redistribution machinery. In a few cases like military, post office etc. we do condone paying this premium but to extend that redistribution across the board is a failed society.
