However, what is the BASIC premise of socialism?

It is the nationalization of industry.

Stalin did it, Hitler did NOT do it.

He created an image of power and privilege that made the horrors that followed possible, but they were only possible because of the situation and the power propaganda has on people in need. I think it a mistake to assume that socialism doesn't lead to authoritarianism.

Based on the number of nations that tried that system, it surely looks like every socialist nation inevitably becomes authoritarian.

However, if we count up all the authoritarian nightmare nations in the world?

We find more authoritarian nighmares with CAPITALIST economies than socialist economies.

What this proves to me that the economic system isn't the WHOLE STORY.

Capitalism can work with EVERY KIND of government. Capitalism doesn't CARE about what happens to the people.

Neither should it, I note since capitalism isn't necessarily part of the government.

What goes on here is that some of you think that every kind of social welfare is socialism.

Every government, regardless of what kind of economic it has, provides social welfare.

You seem to think that the document stands separate from the whole history of the German fascists and German fascism. It does not.
