If the concept of natural conception and birth weren't so pervasive we could possibly make headway with pregnancy prevention. Then we wouldn't need some controversial measure such as abortion. The problem is the religious right that thinks it ok to procreate without pause.

Wrong. Embryonic stem cells can become all cell types of the body because they are pluripotent. Adult stem cells are thought to be limited to differentiating into different cell types of their tissue of origin.
