Trump just now in a press conference said:
- I own nothing in Russia.
- Not true. He has trademark assets in Russia.
- Not true in 2008 according to his son, Donald Jr.
- Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets; say in Dubai, and certainly with our project in SoHo and anywhere in New York. We see a lot of money pouring in from Russia. There's indeed a lot of money coming for new-builds and resale reflecting a trend in the Russian economy and, of course, the weak dollar versus the ruble.
- Not true. He has trademark assets in Russia.
- I have no loans in Russia.
- Maybe true. Maybe not. After multiple bankruptcies and failed business ventures, Trump can’t receive loans from major American banks. And despite a touted net worth in the billions, Trump’s debt increased 80 percent to $630 million in just the last year, Bloomberg recently reported. He lost a quarter of his cash assets, too. (He also lost $1.2M on the Old Post Office, yet he predicted it would earn $6M in the same period. He got a loan from a "standard" bank for that project, but he co-owns the property with the U.S. government.)
- I don't have any deals in Russia.
- Not true, at least as of late July 2016. He has a deal pending with Aras Agalarov, who has served as a liaison between Trump and Putin.
- Putin called him to congratulate him on winning the election and on the inauguration.
- Likely true. The question is what else did Putin say.
